My last shaver, a 12yr Philips/Norelco 1190X, still works but it is now hard and expensive to find "quality" or brand replacement head/blades. It would cost me over half the cost of this shaver just to get replacement blades, so I decided to invest in this new shaver where replacement blades are easily available and less expensive. My issue is with Philips and their less than clear advertising. As others have noted, this "Shaver 6500" is not the "S6500" model but the "S5366/95" Model. In other words the "S5000 series". On the bottom of the packaging it is noted "S5366/95", but on the front of the packaging it is very prominently displayed as "Shaver 6500". On the front of the actual shaver it says "6000 series", but on the back of the shaver it says S5366. The included manual is for the S5000 series. So, what is it? A 6500, a S5366/95, a 5000 series, or a 6000 Series? Philips no longer sells this unit on their website; at least I can't find it for sale there. I can only assume it is a discontinued model. The package does accurately displays what is in the box. What is missing is the issue, and one would assume it would be part of the shaver itself and not an accessory; the protective cap. Every electric shaver I have ever purchased for 40 years, always came with a cleaning brush and a protective cap. The protective cap and cleaning brush are essential, not an accessory! At least this unit has an actual charger w/cord and not the USB C cords without the power adapter the other models have. I called Philips Support who advised me the protective cap is not included with this model because they include the travel case. I informed them the travel case is nice, but it will not protect the blades from rubbing against the case, thus dulling or damaging the blades. I was informed the protective cap can be purchased though their vendor for $6 and change, and I am sure shipping is extra. Come on Philips, this cap would probably cost you less than dollar a unit.
To be fair I do think this model shaver for what all does comes with it is still a good buy on sale. I did a test and shaved with my old shaver then went over again with this new unit and it did shave closer picking up enough to see when opening the head. I could also feel the difference. It is also quieter and lighter. Is it as close as a razor? No! My skin changed as I got older and a razor started nicking me too many times, so I went electric and never looked back. As for longevity, only time will tell.
