the auto-detect connected devices function seems like a great idea, until it isn't. i love the size and almost all features about my new samsung 85" au8000, but it doesn't recognize by son's nintendo switch when connected. it also has trouble playing the sound on movies and shows on disney+, and netflix through the apple tv that is connected to it. these same shows and movies work fine on the same apple tv and the nintendo switch works fine when both are connected to my older samsung tv without the "smart auto-detect" function when connecting devices via hdmi. major oversight in programming.

Unfortunately the tv is not working well. It randomly and more often, makes a noise and a flash in the screen. It also goes black or has no volume. The only way to temporary fix it is to unplug and replig back in and also with the pvr. Can't find my receipt so I'm stuck with it I guess.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We've had this TV for about a year now and we've enjoyed streaming everything with ease as our main living room TV. The 50” is the perfect size for us and the quality of the picture is great. We have some pretty large windows in our living room which can make watching some dark shows (i.e. Stranger Things) mid day pretty hard to see in great detail, but otherwise the picture is more than adequate. Our biggest gripe is that upon startup, it takes a very long time to load up the menu and open any applications. Much slower than the LG that we previously used. I also preferred the menu layout of the LG better and found its settings a little more intuitive but that's mostly personal preference. The remote is simple and works great – I've hated some of the huge bulky remotes that we've had in the past where I would only use 20% of the buttons on it anyways, but this one is sleek and simple. Overall, the AU8000 has been an amazing budget TV for us and has met all our needs. It's an especially great deal if you snag it during the Amazon Prime Day season!

my daughter and son-in-law got this for my wife and i for christmas due to my expressed interest in a smart tv to get off of high cable bills. the set up was a breeze, plenty of loaded streaming apps and the download of new apps was effortless. picture quality still amazes me 2 1/2 weeks later.

It has a good sharpness and definition and allows you to configure the colors of the screen to your liking and the remote control is very comfortable minimalist and modern. It is light and easy to move.

bought this television as a replacement for a vizio. the picture difference is truly stunning. vibrant colors, smooth movement, and the color palette is unparalleled. i'll add surround sound later, which should give a great movie experience. works very well for video games too, with a fast refresh rate that eliminates lagging.

The viewing of images are very clear and the sound of the optical digital on my Samsung wireless speakers with subwoofers is also a high quality sound. I love the sound and the image on the screen. My other was 5 years old and was still working well, but the new one has features and clarity far beyond my older Samsung. Picture is superior and the voice remote that controls both TV and Cable Box is a great plus. I haven't regretted this purchase at all. Worth every penny.
