The description says this safe takes AA batteries. It does not. It takes AAA batteries. So I wasted time buying AA batteries tonight. I will write an updated review later. C'mon, Sam's Club...

Great price on a really nice safe. With free Plus shipping it’s a no brainer. Safe is very high quality, solid, and the keypad works great. My safe uses 4 AAA batteries, where the Policies & Plans under the Description mentions AA batteries. I can sleep better knowing my valuables are protected. Don’t forget to register your purchase for the After-Fire Replacement Program.

Bought the safe to store important documents/ passports etc, when it came time to open the safe the green light flashes that the right combination is entered , handle turns and the safe is still locked. I have replaced batteries twice and still no luck. I see also that another client had the same problem.

I've had this safe for about 8 years now and I really really wish I had bought an analogue safe with a dial rather than a digital safe with a keypad. It seems like every time I need to get into the safe the batteries need to be changed. The annual need (at a minimum) to replace the batteries (coupled with aaa's being the most expensive) is really annoying. And since you aren't suppose to use any type of rechargable battery you are needlessly throwing these toxic items away over and over again. And, the fact that you can't store paper or valuable jewellery with working parts, due to moisture emanating from the safe itself, without opening the door the suggested every 2 weeks is really really annoying too. Why else own a safe?

We have been looking for a safe for a couple of years now. We were recently at a local Sam's Club and saw one similar. We were planning to purchase the in-store safe, but decided for this one online instead because of the reviews. The reviews are right on and would recommend this safe to anyone. I will try to be as detailed as possible as I was somewhat frustrated for 2 years in not getting enough detail when reading reviews. This safe does not come with an extra set of keys. It is only battery operated. It takes 4 AAA batteries. The battery slide is on the outside of the safe. If the batteries die you can simply replace them. There is also a low battery light on the keypad. When I opened the safe for the first time using the factory code there was already a silica gel packet in it. However, I ordered extra as well. There is also a light on the door when the safe door is open. The factory code cannot be deleted or changed. You can create your own code separate from the factory code, but the factory remains. It comes on the back of the manual so if you do not want anyone to know it do not have them help you set up, get in the safe for the first time, or see the back of the manual. This is perfect for what we needed. We put car titles, passports, birth certificates, and ssn cards in it. It's also plenty big to add a small gun if you choose to go that route as well.
