First, this is a MEDIUM roast coffee. Extra bold refers to the k-cup portion containing a little more coffee to make a stronger cup, it does not refer to the roast. I've seen a lot of reviews from people who don't seem to have read what they were buying very carefully and have confused these two terms (I blame the coffee chains that have substituted the term "bold" for "dark roast" for initiating this confusion). Usually, I prefer darker roast coffees when I can find the rare ones that know the difference between dark roast and burnt, but after sampling pretty every dark roast offered in a k-cup, I didn't like any of them. They all had a bitter, sharp taste somewhat like the burnt offerings at that over-priced chain with the green and white signs, so I moved on to lighter roasts in the extra bold sizes. Most were no better than your average gas station dish water coffee (though, even considering the cost of the brewer, still cheaper than buying gas station coffee). This one actually has flavor, is a nice smooth brew without any nasty after taste or bitterness, and makes a halfway decent cup of coffee even on the larger size cup settings. I'll just add the caveat that there is no coffee ground in the world that is going to give you a knock-your-socks off cup of coffee with about 30 seconds of brewing time. If that's important to you, stick with your French press or drip coffee maker (I'll still pull those out for the weekend). These coffees are all meant for convenience, for brew quickly and dash out the door type people. Incidentally, I did pop one of these k-cups open and dumped the coffee into a French press to see what it was like with a slower brewing process, and it really is a tasty roast.

My husband and I enjoy waking up to this delicious, yummy coffee every morning. Will never go back to a regular coffee pot. We are "hooked" on Newman's Extra Bold. After my brother's visit to our home this summer, he bought a Keurig and loves the Newman's Extra Bold, also.

I love the full bodied taste of this coffee! I tried all the samples that came with my brewer and this one was my favourite hands down. If you like a full flavoured coffee then give this one a try. If only I could find a store in Canada that sells it!

I started brewing a cup and then wandered off. Minutes later I thought to myself "Is something burning?" Then I remembered to fetch my coffee. I had high hopes for the newmans own since it's fair trade and whatnot, and I'll admit I'm new at the intricacies of coffee but I'm not a fan. It was good enough that if I had more that had came in a variety pack I would drink the rest, but I wouldn't order it on its own.

I've never been a huge coffee drinker, I'm more of a tea person. I decided to try out different brands of coffee to add one cup daily for the health benefits. It took me a couple tries to find my right coffee, but this is it! I absolutely love Newman's organic special blend bold coffee! I won't buy any other kind. I love that it has a bold flavor but not so strong or overbearing. I think if you are looking for a great coffee this is the one!

this coffee has been my best experience of all coffees. Anytime of of day or night, its the perfect K-cup each time. Amazing how the taste is perfect at 4oz, 6oz, or 8oz. When I run out, no substitute compares. This coffee is addictive for its organic flavor. Bold but smooth....how do you do that!

This Newman's used to be my FAVE, but it TOTALLY tanked when the label changed from yellow to red. After several months searching for an alternative, I decided to try again with a sample 5-pack, hoping that, by now, they'd seen the error of their ways. Tastes like they did! IT'S GOOD AGAIN! YAY!! My first clue was that the immediate rich aroma had returned. Now, after having one cup each morning for a few days, it's SO nice to have a coffee where every sip is completely satisfying, from start to finish. THIS is a coffee I can drink black and thoroughly enjoy. I only have one cup of caff a day, and I want it to be GOOD! Thank you, Newman's! PLEASE keep it good.

We bought this K-cup after getting a coupon for an in-store purchase of it. Having tried it several times, we can admit it is simply not one of OUR favorites. It has sort of a unpleasant aftertaste that mimics a burnt flavor. Although not terrible, with some of the excellent K-cups that are available, our first will be our last box of Newman's Own. He can have it.

I agree - sadly - with the reviewers who've noticed that the blend has changed from something special to something less than ordinary and yes, it seemed to coincide with the change in packaging. From buying the 80-piece packages as my "Go to" daily coffee, I've taken it off my list.

The first time I tried this coffee, I thought it was a bit too strong. Then I decided to try brewing it with the next-larger size on the Keurig brewer (the "large mug" size instead of the "normal mug" size), and it came out perfectly. I now drink this every morning. It is perfect and delicious every time! Highly recommended!
