Good product but room for improvements

My bottom line up front: With a true, one size fits all and user replaceable cuff, I would have given the Garmin Index BPM 5 stars and would definitely buy it again. Easy to setup and pretty intuitive to use once you get to know the three buttons and their functions. I really enjoy the features and compactness the Garmin Index BPM provides. The seamless connection with Garmin Connect through Wi-Fi is a great feature and I no longer have to manually transfer my readings. Though, I feel Garmin missed the mark with the cuff. While the cuff would seem to accommodate various upper arm sizes, in my experience, the three bands of Velcro interfere with getting a consistent fit over the width of the cuff. I would have preferred one continuous cuff instead of the three sectioned one that is provided. Also, I currently own and have owned many Garmin devices and am 100% confident that the electronics will outlast the cuff material and would have liked to see it employ a user replaceable cuff.

Pretty Good Overall

Blood pressure cuff is difficult to put on and get it positioned just right. We have other BP devices that are much easier to put on. Instructions say that unit is meant only for people 18 to 75 years of age! Seems to me that there are a lot of people left out that should be monitoring their BP. Unit syncs to Garmin account just fine and does everything else as claimed.

Another part of the health & fitness puzzle solved

Activity trackers, on body sensors, the connected scale now this! A blood pressure cuff that automatically drops your readings into a single health and fitness app! Love it. Maybe they'll work on a lactate sensor next? Now in my 50's my doctor asked to track my blood pressure. Plenty of connected devices out there but then you have to link apps and deal with all the headaches. This connects directly to your network, uploads the readings to Garmin Connect and you can easily track them in the single location.

Surprisingly Bad

I purchased the Index BPM because I like Garmin products and my family needed a blood pressure monitor for medical purposes. There were many things I was looking forward to, like being able to have multiple users on the same device and having my data automatically stored in Connect. Unfortunately, the experience was so bad I returned the Index BPM and this makes me question the value of other Garmin products. First, it limits you to 5 characters for names? That's ridiculous, why doesn't it just pull your name from Connect. Second, it wouldn't actually let more than one person connect to it and have their data automatically upload to Connect. The process makes one person "own" the device and then invite others to use it, but it just never worked. Third, the design of the device is pretty big and clunky. It's very difficult to get it onto your arm correctly to take your blood pressure measurements. Finally, given the price, I expected it to be a significantly better experience than just a random blood pressure monitor I can get from anywhere but I just feel like a fool for spending two to three times the money for a bad product. I had planned on getting the Index BPM and the Index Scale and having all my data stored in Connect but now I don't think I'll be doing that. At least I hadn't purchased the scale yet. 2/5 stars, since it can still do the job when you can fit it correctly but I'm not sure I trust the numbers when it's hard to fit correctly without a second set of hands.

Works Well Enough - if you can put it on

I consider my arms to be of an average diameter, However, the cuff that goes around the arm has several places where the Velcro is patched together. I am sure this is by design, but there is a Lump where the two materials are sewn together and I have a hard time getting the seam to go through the metal loop - especially one-handed. It can take me a minute or more to get the cuff put on. I consider this a design flaw. Otherwise, I really like the way the Index BPM connects to the internet and my phone. The reports are good and informative and I can share with my wife.

Very easy to use and accurate readings

Seems very accurate. It's right on par with a high end Omron I have. The Garmin is much smaller and easier to use. I wish it had a rechargeable battery, but other than that it's a great tool. Nice that it keeps track in the Connect app. Makes it easu to share the info with my doctor if needed.

accurate

I work as an Anesthesiologist. I was very surprised a month ago when I recorded high blood pressures during a routine physical. I compared the garmin machine to the machines in the hospital. Both were the same. I appreciate the connivence of the data streaming to my phone. I already used garmin connect for my cycling and other workouts. I would recommend this product

Garmin BP monitor

I've had this monitor for about a month. I purchased it to replace another monitor that I have that I no longer have the software that came with it. I like that it takes the readings and uploads to my Garmin account automatically and that I don't have physically connect it to do so. It does that very well. It is however not quite as intuitive to use as my old monitor that has clearly marked buttons that let you know their function. If you don't want to have to remember the button sequences needed to take your blood pressure or to recall it. This monitor is not for you. As far as reading accuracy, you need to follow the instructions carefully to get an accurate reading. If you don't, your reading could be off by a fair amount. Also while you can review your last reading on the monitor itself, it appears that is the only reading it keeps so if you don't setup the monitor to transfer the readings to your Garmin account you will lose them. I got this monitor because I already had a Garmin account and wanted to replace my old monitor. After a learning curve, I am happy with the monitor. I can recommend it to people who have a Garmin account but if you don't and don't plan to in the future then I'd say you won't be happy with it.

Heavy, clunky, not a good value

First, for the cost of this unit there should be rechargeable battery's! The arm band can be a two hand operation to adjust. My arm is not big so the width of the strap tends to dig into the elbow joint. On the plus side sending the readings to Connect makes it more palatable for the price. Also the multi user feature is nice how it sends my wife's readings to her Connect as well.

It works great and syncs with my Garmin account with no extra effort. It was easy to setup and allows me to track my blood pressure, weight and activity in one place. My wife is an MD and has checked my measured BP manually against the device. They seem to line up for the most part. This device can be used for a beginner or expert.
