Great Health Tool

This device has helped me track my blood pressure for several weeks and the data provided through Garmin Connect was easy to compile and print so I could share with my doctor. She identified that I had high blood pressure and put me on medication. I continue to track my blood pressure. I love how it syncs with Garmin Connect so easily. Highly recommend this device!

Very easy and convenient to use, very accurate.

Wanted to buy a device that would give me accurate results, most of the devices out there don't have properly calibrated microphones, so the diastolic reading is normally too high. As this is FDA certified, the promise is to have more precise readings. Nothing substitute a manual reading, but this is very close to what I get manually, also the convenience of the app to track readings over time is a very good feature for those that need to show it to their doctor. Kudos to Garmin.

Blood pressure monitor is good - the scale is awfu

I bought this about a month ago and find it to be very accurate and easy to use. It syncs seamlessly with my phone. I also bought the scale and after the first one shattered and put glass into my leg, they sent me a second one, which didn't work. The scales are less than worthless and a danger to you.

Really Disappointed!

I've used several different home BP monitors over the past decade. When my most recent one fell victim to a high impact incident with the floor, I jumped at the chance to replace it with the Garmin Index BPM. The chance to add my BP metrics to the collection of vitals in the Garmin ecosystem along with the expectation of quality and reliability convinced me to overlook the premium price point and a few negative reviews about accuracy.. Oh how I was disappointed! The clever design of the angled face is annoying in practice. Rather than allowing the cuff to be wrapped around the body for a compact travel package, the angled face means that the cuff is bunchy and loose. The design of other cuffs I've used have a serious advantage for portability. But most troubling by far was the accuracy of the BP readings themselves. Multiple back to back readings with no other changes produced wildly different results. The readings would consistently vary by 25-30 points! Inconsistency was the only thing consistent about this cuff. Yes, I have also used the feature for 3 readings to average and yes, I'm very familiar with the importance of placement position. Comparing side by side readings at the same time with a different BP cuff, the Garmin BPM was all over the place and even the averages of readings were not in line with the other cuff or manual readings (the old school way). My experience unfortunately echoes that of others reviews that have found the BPM to be consistently inaccurate. After a month of trying to make it work, I have returned the unit. I will not buy another, and I would not recommend to others. I would go even further to recommend several alternatives (all of them cheaper) instead.

I want it to work!

I have more than 30 types of Garmins in my house. I was super excited when I saw the blood pressure monitor. After 10 days, it consistently measures my blood pressure at 175/120. I was terrified and wanted to run to urgent care. I measured it against the health mate cuff that I already use and my BP is normal. I have searched everywhere to find a link to calibrate the Index but not having any luck as I suspect that it the problem. I'll call Garmin for help and check back in to update my review if it gets calibrated correctly.

Easy and informative

On annual physicals my blood pressure was marginally high, so I decided to monitor it. Very glad I did, because I found that measuring at home my blood pressure was substantially lower - in fact, downright normal/average. Since it loads directly to Connect I can see the trends across time as well. Super happy with this.

Bad measurement of upper pressure

I bought the device three months ago and its main flaw is that it measures the upper pressure incorrectly. On average, it's off by +30 points. The error for the lower pressure is almost zero. All its other features are very good and I hope that Garmin will fix the error through an upgrade.

Simple and effective monitoring!

I do not suffer from high or low blood pressure since getting myself in shape but as part of my overall fitness regime I have been monitoring my BP for a while now. As an avid Garmin user, this product's launch was timely for me and since I received it, has not failed me. In concert with Garmin Connect, I now have a full history of my BP over a period of time which I can share seamlessly with my Doctor. Awesome product.

Giving inspiration

I've had an Index 2 scale for a while now, so thought the Index BPM would be a good addition, not expecting anything other than tracking over time. But, it turns out my BP is a little high, so have started to be more focused on my exercise and weight to get ahead of it. Who knew?

Garmin BP monitor

I've had this monitor for about a month. I purchased it to replace another monitor that I have that I no longer have the software that came with it. I like that it takes the readings and uploads to my Garmin account automatically and that I don't have physically connect it to do so. It does that very well. It is however not quite as intuitive to use as my old monitor that has clearly marked buttons that let you know their function. If you don't want to have to remember the button sequences needed to take your blood pressure or to recall it. This monitor is not for you. As far as reading accuracy, you need to follow the instructions carefully to get an accurate reading. If you don't, your reading could be off by a fair amount. Also while you can review your last reading on the monitor itself, it appears that is the only reading it keeps so if you don't setup the monitor to transfer the readings to your Garmin account you will lose them. I got this monitor because I already had a Garmin account and wanted to replace my old monitor. After a learning curve, I am happy with the monitor. I can recommend it to people who have a Garmin account but if you don't and don't plan to in the future then I'd say you won't be happy with it.
