Simple and effective monitoring!

I do not suffer from high or low blood pressure since getting myself in shape but as part of my overall fitness regime I have been monitoring my BP for a while now. As an avid Garmin user, this product's launch was timely for me and since I received it, has not failed me. In concert with Garmin Connect, I now have a full history of my BP over a period of time which I can share seamlessly with my Doctor. Awesome product.

Simplicity in use

I grabbed this unit a few weeks ago and have been testing my BP daily. It took a very minor amount of learning to use. It's a sleek design and from what I can tell works accurately. I like the fact that you can request it to read three times and report the average. It's also great that it links directly to your garmin connect account for historical reporting and tracking purposes.

I was expecting better from Garmin.

I bought this item thinking it would be nice to have my blood pressure measurement automatically upload to Garmin connect. In reality this item is a big disappointment. First off the the measurement cuff takes two hands to operate. Very difficult for one person to put on. The other problem is the tiny three buttons to operate the unit. There is a icon on each button but since there is no contrast like painted icons you can't see what each button is. I would guess that the primary market for this item is for older people that have less then perfect eye sight this does not work. I own several Garmin products that I love. This is definitely not one of them. This should have been better vetted before going to market.

Periodically "forgets" users.

Disappointing device. The device "forgets" users periodically (once a month), and I have drop the device and re-add it to my account to get it to work again. When it does work, it is difficult to adjust and often generates different numbers between my left and right arm.

About 15-20 points higher than registered manually

I am hoping that I got a bad BPM - sent it back and hopefully new one will work. Sent it back since it was consistently reading 15-20 points higher than what I get from medical professionals taking it manually. Will try the replacement - hopefully it reports more accurately as I love Garmin products.

Works great

I monitor blood pressure daily. My very old wrist cuff died. I tried multiple brands for replacement. Had to return them. I don't like the standard portable upper arm cuff. They don't travel well. I have a Garmin smart watch. Browsing the site, I found this. It works great. It is close to doctor's office device readings. I love how it folds up making it very portable! Something to consider. It is sl awkward to position

Accuracy is lacking

I thought this would be a nice upgrade from another B/P cuff I've been using for years, and thinking it would be nice to have my B/P showing up in Garmin Connect. However, readings on the BPM Smart Blood Pressure Monitor were so much higher, I began comparing reading, when I say higher, I mean at least 20 points higher on the Systolic. The reading on 1/29 the reading was 202/101 with a pulse of 142 and I was, supposedly in Hypertensive Crisis. The reading from the old cuff was 139/83 with a pulse of 54 (this was after drinking coffee.) Readings from the old cuff are similar to those taken by my PCP. There are times when the readings between the old cuff the BPM are close, but not often for me to consider it accurate.

I would have given it 5 stars, but for the cuff.

I purchased the Index due to it's size and “all in one” construction, which I felt would be perfect for traveling. I currently own an Equate monitor, which has been going strong for a couple of years, but it takes up room in my suitcase. The only complaint I have is the cuff design. It's the same size as the Equate, but I am not impressed with the “strip” design of the Velcro. My arm size happens to fall within one of the plastic strips, and I cannot bent it to stay in place. It either falls outside the strip and is too loose, or too tight if I place it on the other side. I recommend you use a tankard “half and half” cuff design.

horribly inaccurate

I'm getting a measurement of around 170/100, multiple times. I have other Omron BPMs and they're all sub 140 / sub 90. It makes no sense. First Garmin product I'm disappointed with. Hoping there's a software/firmware update in the next few days to get this working correctly or it's going back.

Nice pressure cuff

This is the fourth blood pressure cuff I've bought. It is my favorite of them all. The reading are fairly accurate as compared to a manual sphygmomanometer. That being said, you do have to be Very Careful and follow the instructions exactly or you will wind up with a very inaccurate reading. Arm strength out resting at heart level. Give yourself a few minutes to relax before you take a reading. I don't think any of the automatic blood pressure cuffs are exact, but if used correctly gets you in the “ballpark”. I like that it automatically saves the data to Garmin Connect.
