Works well

As is typical for Garmin, this can be taken out of the box and used easily. However, many "extra" features require some instructions, which aren't easy to find. Garmin manuals leave a lot to be desired. The information is there, but can require some detective work to find. I like that the BPM is fairly compact and can be folded up to fit in a bag.

Great tool!

I can't speak for anyone else, but my blood pressure usually only gets checked when I'm in a Dr's office. I've had elevated readings passed off as being from nerves or whatever, but this device is showing me I actually have high blood pressure and now I'm working on that. Very cool to see when I'm making progress and what's maybe leading to elevated readings. The extra user setup, took us a few tries to get my wife and I both added. Understanding the difference between the wifi and bluetooth setup is the key.

Index BPM - I Had Trouble

Received the unit and took my first measure. It came back with a reading in the 'Hypertensive Crisis' range. I calmly waited and took several more measurements. Same results. I was not having any cardiac symptoms, so I decided to take a measurement each morning at the same time. The readings always came back in the State 2 to critical level. Armed with a 7-day report from Garmin Connect I headed to my doctor. The doc was great and tested my with 3 different methods, including a stethoscope. All of the docs readings were similar and normal. I also tested twice with the Garmin Index BPM under the docs supervision. Once again the Garmin Index BPM put me at Stage 2 (very high). The Garmin was reading 20+ high and I have returned the unit for a refund.

Convenient BPM

Convenient and simple to use, the accuracy seems okay. Connected to the Garmin connect app and worked out of the box. Accuracy seems okay but I've noticed holding down the heart button and allowing for 3 measurements seems to help a lot with this. Doing a single measurement seemed all over the place. Recommended for the convenience and integration with the connect app.

Bulky. Great Results Once You Get It Paired

Garmin needs to slim this BPM down by a third. It's really bulky. I'm not small and the cuff takes up most of my upper arm. Makes me wonder if my wife is going to be able to use this. I had had a tough time getting the BPM to pair and upload successfully. Not smooth as it has (almost) always been with the myriad of other Garmin Connect devices I have. First time it didn't pair. Second time it paired but wouldn't connect. Third time was the charm. Once properly set up and connected it's been great. Results are in line with several other BPM I have to check accuracy. I want to love this BPM, but it presented two problems: bulky size and glitchy set-up. So the best I can do is give it 4 stars.

Easy to use w Garmin account

Garmin's blood pressure cuff is a very nice first addition. Calibrated out of box Graphics and exports to PDF are very useful and nice. Materials and ease of use are very simple. I hope they update software to move menu order to have 'history' before Bluetooth and wifi menu options. Current it makes viewing last reading on device many more clicks then needed. I hope they push a software update to allow adding another users name to BPcuff with one Garmin connect account instead of forcing each person to make their own account. Example families. It's great for tracking but if one person is ONLY doing BP and not tied into the rest of garmin feels annoying. I hope next version or a software update to this one can get it to do HRV or sync with capable watch to do at same time as cuff and store that information together in same 'health' report. HRV is such an important health metric and it is just now starting to be considered more. Garmin needs to push more into this health space to not get left behind.

Unfortunately, results are consistently 10 mm high

At the hospital I had a nurse check my existing BPM and it was dead on. When I received my Index BPM it consistently read about 10 mm high for sys and 7 mm high for dia compared with my validated BPM. The pulse was accurate. I then reset the new Index unit and tried again to see if there was some problem that a reset would clear. No change still about 10 units high

Great Product!

Was a little skeptical on purchasing as it was a bit more expensive then other BPM's on the market, was using iHealth with a cuff. Purchased the Garmin and it has been great, LOVE the fact all my information is on Garmin Connect. Highly Recommend if you are on the fence!

Great idea if it would work as expected

I would give it a one start. This blood pressure doesn't communicate well with software. It also send false information on random times of the early morning . It was very difficult to add my fiancé and retrieve his information, when it did it came with false information. I included the BP false information that send to my connect and my fiancés connect. His was send at 1 am and mine at 5 am neither off us took our blood pressure at those times. I love my garmin devices and was really hope that this BPM would work for us . As I'm trying to come up with a whole body health program for my family. It is disappointing not to be able to get the information needed. It sucks the you don't have a customer service I could talk to . It would be nice to be able to talk to someone that could help with the problem.

Great Product with some issues

Overall I am very satisfied with the Garmin Index BP Monitor. Getting my Connect to recognize the device was a bit of an issue. This may have been because a Connect Update had recently downloaded. All and all I would high recommend the Index as another link in anyone's Garmin Bios Health and Wellness toolkit.
