I have not tried other canned beef stew so I have nothing to compare it to other than my own beef stew and guess what, I'd rather save myself the time and purchase this product. It is very rich and flavorful. I remember eating this as a child but wasn't old enough to appreciate the incredible hearty and flavorful of this stew. I, without hesitation, recommend this product to anyone that is looking for beef stew that is full of rich flavor and is incredibly hearty.

You do not need a can open get, easy open top. The flavor is pretty tasty. It does not taste like home made, but it's pretty decent and really fast and convenient. There are good sized chunks of vegetables and meat and the gravy is a good consistency. Its adequate but not fantastic.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had recently tried some Hormel Compleats which I mostly thought were just okay, not a lot of flavor and not enough food for a complete meal. Out of the four I tried, the Beef Stew one was actually called Dinty Moor instead of Compleats even though the rest of the packaging was identical to the others, and it was my favorite. It had a little more flavor and a more diverse texture with the beef, potatos, and carrots. But it was still not nearly enough food. This time I tried the Dinty Moor Beef Stew in a can which was 20 oz instead of only 9 oz, and I liked it. It tasted similar to the one in the plastic container but this one seemed to have more flavor... I have no idea if the plastic vs metal container has anything to do with that or if it was just my imagination that they tasted a little difference, but for sure the 20oz size was much more satisfying. When I had the 9oz one I was still hungry afterwards and had to go heat up another Compleats meal but the 20oz can filled me up good. I didn't like it quite as much as the Chicken and Dumplings which was delicious but this one was still pretty good. I would like to have it again sometime.

First thing I did was look at the ingredients..there are no preservatives which I was very pleased with..can has an easy pop top so no fumbling with a can opener so even a great item to keep in stock for weather emergency or camping trip. I am also one that is always on the go and a quick no mess meal gets points. I scooped my serving into my bowl and I noticed nice chunks of beef..sliced carrot and potato and the gravy was nice and thick..I microwaved for 1 minute & half (time may vary) and it was piping hot..The stew was savory just like my Grandma's used to make.. the carrots and potato had bite not mushy. I have tried other beef stews but DINTY MOORE HEARTY MEALS Beef Stew has won me over. Also on the back of can is easy to read cooking instructions and a recipe. I highly recommend this product and I received a free sample in exchange for my honest opinion.

I am single and a terrible cook so it hits the spot when I crave a hot, home-made tasting meal and don't want to deal with cooking it myself. I know I could not duplicate the flavor and smooth texture of the gravy. There is plenty of meat and it's always tender. The potatoes are always perfect too..well done without being mushy. There is plenty of stew in the 20 oz can I've always bought. It makes two meals for me. I received a sample package which included the 15 oz Dinty Moore Beef Stew. It tasted just as delicious as the bigger version. After consuming two thirds of the sample I was full. Then I got hit with the "just-one-more-spoonful" bug and before I knew it my bowl was empty. It really was more than I usually eat at one meal but probably the perfect amount for others. It appears I am a 10 oz-a-meal Dinty Moore Beef Stew kind of woman. I have not seen the 15 oz can in the store. Perhaps it's always been there but I just reach for the 20 oz one. The price for that one has remained affordable on my fixed income. I'm sure the 15 oz would cost less.
