Terrible change!

I mostly cook at home but in a pinch I will use good quality canned meals. Dinty Moore has always been a favorite go to, quick, and delicious....until now. I was shocked that our dinner had no meat chunks, just a very small amount of ground something that I guess was supposed to be a meat product. I will not be using it again, it was way below my standards.

Changed to Spongey & Bland

If you're looking for canned beef stew, look elsewhere. I used to buy this all the time for my family for 13+ yrs but not anymore. I stopped 2 years ago. The meat is obviously not stew meat but rather spongey and BLAND. The carrots are tasteless. Potatoes bla. I no longer buy 3+ at a time. Ick no! I make my own from scratch in a crockpot. Wouldn't feed this to my dog.

Moo, moo.

Nothing like stocking up on a proven & delicious brand of high quality food. The cow did not die in vain. Thanks to Sam's, the company runs like a well, oiled machine, and we get supplies to our heart's desire. Unless you happen to be vegan. Then the rest if us are doomed to eat bugs. Help!

tasty as I remember

I almost hate to admit that I like this product as much as do.... It has a very beefy flavored broth and the potatoes are good. The meat is a formed mystery, but there is more of it than competing canned stews, and it tastes good. The overall taste just works for me! I like it always and particularly on camping trips. My favorite is with toasted, buttered, sourdough-- works better than biscuits or dumplings in my opinion.

Flat Out Lousy

We've eaten Dinty Moore Beef Stew for years, but hadn't had any since last Fall. This weekend we picked up a couple of cans to have for quick meals and had some tonight. It was terrible tasting stuff and we didn't finish it. I just accessed this website and found these poor reviews, and I have to say that we agree that Dinty Moore isn't good anymore. It's flat out lousy. Why change a recipe that stood the test of time? Dinty Moore used to be so delicious, but this mess wasn't even close to what we remembered. I doubt we'll even open the second can and will probably throw it away.

Changed For The Worse

I used to love the taste when it had real stew meat in it; now it has ground meat with soybeans and it tastes terrible. It was the only stew I liked; I expected quality from the Hormel brand and now that it is cheapened, I will not buy any more of it.

Yuck!!

I have used Dinty Moore Beef Stew as a staple for years and years. A few years ago they changed the recipe and at first I didn't like it, but I grew accustomed to the change and continued eating it several nights per week (single person). Now they have changed it again and I won't even eat the remaining cans I have. It's terrible. It has the strangest flavor. I don't know what I will do now - but it will be something different because this new recipe is the worst ever. Good luck Hormel - don't know why you want to mess with a good thing. SMH

Unfortunately they changed the recipe

I recall they changed the recipe a few years ago. I keep trying it and hoping I can get a can where they go back to their original recipe. But, it just doesn't happen. They used to have the meatball stew which was similar to the old recipe. But they now seem to have discontinued that as well. Really miss the old recipe with the thicker gravy and pieces of stew meat. Hope they bring it back someday.

Dented Moore

Dented cans, only method of purchasing is by shipping. Some of the dents were due to shipping. A few were from the manufacturer since the outside cans in the package were fine, but the ones in the middle were seriously dented. These were a donation to a Christmas Basket program. So there were about 7 cans out of 104 that they can not use due to the large dents in the cans.

No longer Beef Stew

I've been eating this product off and on for more than 40 years and it used to be a favorite comfort food, especially for camping. I've bought my last can. The flavor has changed significantly but even worse it no longer has stew meat in it, which changes the texture completely. It went from "yum" to "ick!".
