Something not right!

Supermarket had a promotion so I bought 2 20 Beef Stew Tins. I have eaten Dinty Moore for ever, I'm 70. There wasn't a single chunk of beef anywhere to be seen in this can! The stew appears to have been made with ground beef. Tasted fine but like the little old lady said in a old classic commercial, " Where's the beef?". I will do a contact ti let them know what I found.

Ground Beef Stew

Although I'm disappointed that the chunks of roast beef I remember in my Dinty Moore is gone, I've resigned myself to eating chunks of ground beef (meatballs?) in their place. Not an improvement by any means. But an acceptable substitute if necessary to keep the price competitive. The carrots and potatoes are still terrific, and the umami provided by the mushroom extract really makes the difference. Many companies work on improving their product. Hormel works on improving their bottom line. Telling.

Lost my trust in Dinty Moore

My childhood supper highlight and favorite food, no longer. My father trusted this product as a go-to for an otherwise picky son. It was always a hit, until now. As a man and a father I will not be sharing this tradition with my children or buying the stew as the quality has significantly declined. The delicious cubes of hearty beef have been replaced by crumbly ground up clumps of unappealing and unappetizing "meat"? Soy based product?. Mushroom powder has been added and why? It is very disappointing and generally sad, because this stew always provided a strong sense of nostalgia and comforts of home. I have found recently that the microwavable meal trays are still close if not the same as the original recipe?? Why this inconsistency? Why this change? I have lost trust in this product not knowing when it will be good but knowing I generally will be let down. Please return to the original other wise my money will go to competitive options.

What a shame!

I have been a loyal fan of the beef stew for as long as I can remember but that has changed. This last can I opened had NO meat in it at all, just gravy, potatoes, and carrots. This was always my favorite meal and I could actually cook it right in the can over the campfire. But it has steadily gone downhill, first to ground meat and now no meat at all. Let us all know if you decide to change it back. I will not be buying it any longer. Very sad sign of the times.

If it's not broken, don't fix it!

I know you all made the change awhile ago, but I'm still disgusted by the newer recipe. I've been buying the plastic trays (please don't change this recipe), because they taste like the old familiar Dinty Moore I know and love. The ingredients are different - no mushroom powder. Please re-evaluate your decision to change the recipe, listen to your customers (many of whom have been eating this since childhood!) and bring back the old classic!

Whats with the meat?

While I am not as hard as some of those who rated this a 1, I must admit that the quality has slipped. The meat is a crumbly texture that is obviously a 'Textured Soy Product' and not meat. The gravy is very salty, and the best part is probably the potatoes. A tad disappointed from what I used to recall as a child, but will still buy this as it is filling, long shelf life, and fairly inexpensive. Like others, I would pay more for a better meat texture, and less sodium.

Damaged and crushed cans repeatedly

There needs to be more of an effort to not ship so many damaged packages and dented cans. The past couple months has been extremely concerning. At first I didn't complain because things do happen. However with receiving several packs of dented cans when the delivery boxes are in good condition and ripped open boxes that must be purposely filled with dented cans and shipped out. Safety of the food products need to be a concern . Please take a few moments and look into my last few orders I have complained about and look at the people who are sending these type of damaged products.

Go back to old recipe!

I don't want the mushrooms in Dinty Moore stew. Please hold the mushrooms. I don't know why you would change something that made you famous. Don't fix it if it's not broke. I can't eat the new stew because I do not like mushrooms. Thanks for mail for messing with something that I grew up on. You should've left it alone. It was already a famous product. Without mushrooms.

Dented Moore

Dented cans, only method of purchasing is by shipping. Some of the dents were due to shipping. A few were from the manufacturer since the outside cans in the package were fine, but the ones in the middle were seriously dented. These were a donation to a Christmas Basket program. So there were about 7 cans out of 104 that they can not use due to the large dents in the cans.

Why...

did you take a great tasting product and turn it into something I won't eat? I grew up car camping and there was nothing better than having Dinty Moore for supper on a piece of bread. I recently bought a couple of cans to take to my cabin and very disappointed when I opened the first one. It is now meatball stew and tastes nothing like I remember. Please change it back and raise the price if you have too.
