Dinty Moore Vegetable Stew

The flavor of Dinty Moore is better than generic brand. I purchased extra canned roast beef to add more meat to make it a full meal with more protein.

Flat Out Lousy

We've eaten Dinty Moore Beef Stew for years, but hadn't had any since last Fall. This weekend we picked up a couple of cans to have for quick meals and had some tonight. It was terrible tasting stuff and we didn't finish it. I just accessed this website and found these poor reviews, and I have to say that we agree that Dinty Moore isn't good anymore. It's flat out lousy. Why change a recipe that stood the test of time? Dinty Moore used to be so delicious, but this mess wasn't even close to what we remembered. I doubt we'll even open the second can and will probably throw it away.

Where's the beef????

I've been eating Dinty Moore Beef Stew as long as I can remember and I can say I just had my last can. If you believe that small ground up pieces of something that's supposed to be meat can replace a chunk of beef you are sadly mistaken. Please change the picture on the can, there are no large chunks of beef in the stew.

Lost my trust in Dinty Moore

My childhood supper highlight and favorite food, no longer. My father trusted this product as a go-to for an otherwise picky son. It was always a hit, until now. As a man and a father I will not be sharing this tradition with my children or buying the stew as the quality has significantly declined. The delicious cubes of hearty beef have been replaced by crumbly ground up clumps of unappealing and unappetizing "meat"? Soy based product?. Mushroom powder has been added and why? It is very disappointing and generally sad, because this stew always provided a strong sense of nostalgia and comforts of home. I have found recently that the microwavable meal trays are still close if not the same as the original recipe?? Why this inconsistency? Why this change? I have lost trust in this product not knowing when it will be good but knowing I generally will be let down. Please return to the original other wise my money will go to competitive options.

My whole family is disgusted!!!

When I was a child I use to eat dinty moore beef stew all the time. It was my favorite thing to eat. My whole family use too eat it all the time. Every since you guys changed it, it doesn't taste good at all. Me and my whole family are disappointed and I'm just gonna say that if you changed it back to the way it use too be then your sales would probably go back up. I probably have had 20 some people in my family say they won't even touch it anymore and we all use to eat it all the time. Please change it back

What a shame!

I have been a loyal fan of the beef stew for as long as I can remember but that has changed. This last can I opened had NO meat in it at all, just gravy, potatoes, and carrots. This was always my favorite meal and I could actually cook it right in the can over the campfire. But it has steadily gone downhill, first to ground meat and now no meat at all. Let us all know if you decide to change it back. I will not be buying it any longer. Very sad sign of the times.

Dented Moore

Dented cans, only method of purchasing is by shipping. Some of the dents were due to shipping. A few were from the manufacturer since the outside cans in the package were fine, but the ones in the middle were seriously dented. These were a donation to a Christmas Basket program. So there were about 7 cans out of 104 that they can not use due to the large dents in the cans.

Hearty Dinty Moore Beef Stew

The new Hearty Dinty Moore Beef Stew tastes terrible and can best compared to dog food. First time we tried it we looked at other and said "YUCK" in unison. First and last time. No more Hearty garbage for us! Thanks so much Hormel! The original Dinty Moore Beef Stew was delicious and my family ate it twice a week. Too bad companies don't know how to leave a good thing alone.

Taste like Freedom

I need to tell you how much I love Dinty Moore Beef Stew. This beef stew has been with me everywhere; for starters I do allot of long distance hiking where I go out into the woods and cover 10-15 miles a day and set up camp, only to do it again the next day. On such ventures, soup isn't an ideal food source to pack due to the weight and size, but I always make sure to keep a few cans with me to eat on the nights I'm really hungry, or celebrating a particular part of the hike. When I was with the Army I had, my family send me cans of Dinty Moor Beef Stew well I was on the last 15-month deployment to Afghanistan in US history in 2008-2009, with the 101st Airborne. I was in the infantry, and consequently rarely had access to large chow halls and was forced to choose between one of the 24 flavors of MRE's we had, pop-tarts, or dried cereal with no milk for breakfast, lunch, and dinner most days. We used to clean out a .50 Cal ammo can throw 2 large cans of this soup in there along with what ever vegetables we could trade from the locals, we'd put a good layer of MRE cheese on there too, then we'd crush up a bunch of MRE crackers to top it with and cook it over a fire made up of wood pallets, and silly letters from school children. Takes about 20 minutes to cook and taste like Freedom.

Add some crackers for perfection

I really don't understand all of these low reviews. The meat in this tastes fine to me and with crackers, this is a filling and satisfying meal for me and it has been for years. I tend to switch between this and Armour Beef Stew and both are great in their own way.
