For the price, it was just what I was looking for. I have a smaller one with a handle that I have had for years and it works but I needed something bigger. I'm actually glad it doesn't have handles because it makes it harder for someone to take it. My only complaint is the lock mechanism. Regardless of which key I use, I have to wiggle and jiggle the key to get it into the lock. Once the key is inserted the lock mechanism is kind of loose.

When moving I packed the safe in a box with cushioning and the movers dropped the box and the outside if the safe cracked in several places. The keys are thin and break easily. Broke a key in the lock and had to break open safe. Just not a good overall value for the money.

The SentrySafe File box is exactly what a family needs to keep important papers together and protected. The only drawback about the box is no handle for carrying. It is a little heavy and awkward to move however if it does what it needs to then there wont be any reason to be carrying it.

we can put our important papers in it. Only thing I would add would be easy handles on side. And I wonder how the moisture barrier works as to why not to put some valuables because they might be damaged. won't the important papers be damaged by the moisture?

I have had this safe for more than 30 years! I am thankful that I have never had to test its fire rating, but it has stored our most important original documents over all of that time. The key works flawlessly, never sticking! The ONLY thing I wish is that it was ever so slightly wider so I could fit 3-ring notebooks inside without going kitty corner. Of course, that's no fault of the design as that was never intended. Just the way I tend to file certain documents. Still loving it after all these years!

I love Sentry products. I am not certain this one would protect in a fire (due to excessive lid movement when locked), however I purchased it because of the size for our coin collection. We hopefully never find out if it protects the contents from fire!

I also bought a small one and the sm2 key opens it also. I could not hardly believe it! This is the worst thing I can think of? Unbelievable! That a Company that makes Safes. Would be like this? Now I have to Waste my precious time to mess with it and get it right! This is Terrible!!

The key locking mechanism of the safe was defective right out of the box. SentrySafe advised me to return it for a replacement. It was assembled in Mexico. I’m not certain how much the company saves by doing business outside of the United States if they’re replacing brand new safes due to shoddy workmanship. Hopefully my replacement will be satisfactory.

Years past, I need large documents, e.g. trusts, titles, etc.. One handed, I can't handling ~100lbs safe. However, a file box fire proof good solution. Yes, I carry it one handed - but it is cumbersome. I hope no never will started or engulf fire my home, but if .... Maybe little lager, 9"x12" envelopes fit .

I've had one of these for over 20 years now, and it is a great fire safe for your most important documents, such as wills, birth certificates, passports and insurance papers, etc. etc. I just bought another one for my daughter to start filing her own personal papers. Paperwork is unfortunately a fact of life here in America, and keeping those papers safe is vital. Most are lost in fires or floods. This safe is only for fireproofing your documents. Thus, it is not as heavy as the flood proof one. If you live on a hill, this one is all you need. Holds about 20 file folders.
