I love the quality of this safe and that it can be bolted to the floor from the inside for extra security. The file space was large and spacious. It could easily hold 8.5 x 11 in. pages.

We already have one of these we’ve had for about 20 years or so..but we’ve been intending to get another, due to that fact that we can keep the personal tax records in such a box, without worry about fire, etc. getting more organized this year, meant getting this box, and yes, it has helped a lot. I put a lot of hanging files in it. The price is very reasonable..it’s great.

Perfect for the use intended. I purchased it approximately six months ago. Perfect for the use I purchased it for. Most reasonable price I could find among similar items with the similar measurements.

A good price for some mid level fire protection for important documents. It is big enough to hold all my important papers (car, insurance, recent bank, IRS etc). Docked one star because the key is difficult to get in. In my case, I am primarily using as a fire-resistant box and will probably leave the key in for easy access (fire-resistances requires the box to be locked)

handle would have been nice but it is quite heavy so it won't be moved often. pleased with the purchase

I purchased my first Model 1170 back in 1996. One key has worked seamlessly. The 2nd, never. However, I purchased another unit knowing the fireproof aspect was what I really wanted. I read reviews before the purchase and could not believe everyone was having such difficulty with the keys. With the new unit I tried %26 found: 1) Trying some WD-40 on metal key and lock made no difference. 2) One key is entirely useless. I thought I would skin my fingers trying to work the various combinations. I even tried using the 1996 key that works with the old unit. No good. The lock is no longer the same. 3) The other key can be removed easily IF the lid is UP and the unit is in a locked position. However, it is tough to get back in. And what security is provided when the lid is UP? 4) Since my focus is for the fireproof aspect, I just threw the keys inside the unit and closed the lid. Perhaps If I had first written about my concerns back in 1996, the issue would have been resolved by now. Isn't security a feature what the entity alleges with its products everyday? How is this such a tough problem to solve?

While this is a good case material is sturdy material wise with lock and key. You need a space to put it in. Also its heavy. The case did not have a handle to move it around. I would have preferred that. Its sturdy for someone who doesn't have problems with the weight of the case and the space to have it.

Youtube tells thieves how to break in with a toe nail clipper. Mine was broken into a couple months ago and 5k was stolen from it. I'm embarrassed to admit it, but people should know that nothing in this safe is safe from thieves.

I bought this one hoping to store my important documents. But size is small. One can store A4 paper size documents directly but not if the documents are in a folder. Additionally, this is definitely not water-proof. Very disappointed with this sentrysafe.
