I wasn't particularly impressed with these- and ended up throwing away half of them. The toaster oven took much longer than the instructions indicated to caramelize the sugar, and even then it was still too gooey (instead of crispy) and got stuck in our teeth.

How to make warm Crème Brulee

My recommended process: 1) move oven rack to top position 2) turn on the broiler 3) remove foil cover from glass ramekin 4) make 5 radial cuts in the custard with a spoon 5) microwave it for 15 seconds, wait 10 seconds, microwave another 15 seconds, wait 10 seconds, then microwave for 10 seconds. (any longer times and it will explode in the microwave) (very messy) 6) put warm glass ramekin in a small cake pan 7) sprinkle sugar packet over custard 8) place cake pan on top rack for 60 seconds 9) remove hot cake pan and carefully transfer the hot glass ramekin to a small plastic bowl 10) turn off broiler 11) enjoy a hot Crème Brulee

Look fancy with little effort

These are a fun option for a nice dessert that seems fancy but are very easy to make. We have done them in the oven on broil and with a torch. They are great either way but we prefer the custard cold so we use the torch to just get the crunchy top. I top mine with a few sliced strawberries.

I will say though I tried the oven instructions and I tried using a kitchen torch and I loved using the kitchen torch better. The kitchen torch carmelized the sugar on the top within seconds and then it was immediately ready to eat. It didn’t need to go back in the fridge! Highly recommend!

Sorry, these came up short!

Sadly, these desserts came up short. We love crème brûlée, and I’ve had it at many fine restaurants. The custard had an artificial Aftertaste. They are a perfect size and our convenient but I wouldn’t serve them again. I could be extra picky because I’ve had very good crème brûlée many times.
