[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am late to the camera doorbell game as my house actually doesn't have a pre-wired doorbell, so I was pretty excited that Google/nest finally came out with a battery powered camera doorbell. Setup is pretty straight forward. You have to use the google home app, which I already had as I have the next thermostat and google Wi-Fi already. It pretty much walks you through step by step. Once setup and mounted, you're good to go. The battery is rated to last about 1.5-6 months depending on activity; I set mine up about 2 months ago and had to charge it already. It sends a push notification when the battery is low which is nice. Video and audio quality are both very good; you can also talk back to guests/visitors. When someone rings the doorbell, you get a push notification on the phone. If you have any of those google home speaker devices, a chime will play through those, but I don't have any so can't speak on that much. The only bummer about the device is video is only saved on the cloud for 3 hours. If you want a specific video you have to download it immediately or or sign up for the Nest Aware subscription. I also have Arlo wireless cameras and they offer unlimited video for up to a week before they auto delete the files from the cloud; it gives me plenty of time to view and save anything I want. It's quite a stark contract between the two brands. All in all, a very good product. Just wish they gave customers more free video time. But in terms of ease of setup, video quality, and now actually having a doorbell, I still recommend the product.

The camera quality is fantastic and I love all of the features this provides. It took about 10 min to do the installation onto our house and we were up and running shortly after once the initial charge had been completed. It came with everything we needed to do the install. The video quality is fantastic and it does a great job of recognizing people, animals, and packages. The notifications come through quickly so we don't miss any of the activity. It also links to the Google Home devices we have and can make them also ring when someone uses the doorbell. No more having to have another device to hear an audial doorbell. I also love that the light around the button turns on when someone walks to let them know where to press for the doorbell. The battery lasts almost a month before we have to charge it again and I can check the battery percentage anytime in the app. My kids love the seasonal doorbell sounds which make it fun when it plays Christmas music or turkey sounds depending on the current holiday. Overall this has been a great addition to our smart home and look forward to continuing to use it. It helps keeps our deliveries from getting stolen and lets us know who may be at our door.

I have another camera system set up, but I wanted another doorbell camera for my back door (which gets used more then front door) I do like the nest doorbell for the ease of setting it up. It has a great camera quality, day and night vision is nice and clear! What I don't like about it is it doesn't have a huge range of view on it. While it does show the step area and is decent view range, it isn't quite as large a view as I would have liked. Another issue I am having is. It doesn't send alerts to my phone when someone is there. So I'm not sure if I am just not finding the proper setting for that or if it just isn't set to send alerts when someone is in the range of motion for it.

It is user friendly,the app is very easy to maneuver. The picture is clear. I like that it can recognize people and things. (like a package or animal) Night vision works well.The battery seems to last a while,it tells you what percent it has or it can show you how many weeks of battery life it has left. I would recommend this to anyone&everyone. It's a pretty amazing device ,the technology is just amazing!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just installed the Google Nest Doorbell – and so far, I can recommend it based on the fact that overall - it works great and does everything I'd hoped and expected. Here are the other pros: - Installation guide was easy to start and understand. - The actual connection to the permanent bracket is very simple and easy to use when needing to charge the doorbell. - Connection to the app and setting up the device was very straight forward. - Camera quality is good, as is the audio clarity for the microphone and speaker - Hoping battery life is good with video on its highest setting - to be determined,. There are a few cons: - Our mounting point is on Hardi siding, and the mounting bracket is not ideal for an angled surface such as this. It took a few tries to get a good spot on the siding that was vertical as needed. The resulting aesthetic is not ideal with empty space behind the bracket – it makes it look a bit temporary. - The battery powered version does not provide an audible ring tone outside, so people who press it may not have a sense of whether it's working or not. - I'm guessing this is user error – but the notification on my phone and iPad aren't audible. I almost wish the notification was a loud “ding dong” like a doorbell. - Adding family members to the Home account for access to this required a Google email account (not everyone in the family has one).

It has a good balance of features, video quality, and price. Video quality is good with a 960x1280 resolution, the resolution is not best in class but provides good enough quality for most homes and users. The aspect ratio gives you a taller field of view which is great for being able to capture packages that get left on the ground. Night time and low-light performance was acceptable. This battery model does not support 24/7 recording, only the wired Nest doorbell supports that feature. This is not the model for you if you require 24/7 recording. The free level of service provides 3 hours of event history, I think this is just barely enough for most users but ultimately depends on how much activity you get at your door daily. If you need more recording time and history you will have to go with one of the 2 levels of Nest Aware paid subscription. One negative is that you need to remove the doorbell from the mount to charge the battery. Battery life though does seem to be very good and doesn't require charging very often. I believe it's advertised to last around 2-3 months. Another issue may you run into is possible theft and the need for anti-theft mounting options. There is a replacement policy that covers theft, but it requires a police report to qualify for a replacement. The doorbell connects to and is controlled with the Google Home app. It is pretty easy to use and has many useful and essential features, I hope that the app is regularly updated and improved on by Google. I didn't experience any issues with the app on my mid-tier phone. The tracking and recognition between person, packages, and animals worked great for me and the alert feature allows you to be notified. You can also communicate with people at your door even if you are not home yourself, this really helps with security and safety as those at the door don't know you're not home. Build quality is fine for a door bell and it's held up to the elements well. This doorbell is quite a bit larger(longer) than most of it's competitors. The plastic is matte and looks better than a glossy finish. Overall this is a good choice if you don't need 24/7 recording and can live with the limited free tier of service or don't mind paying a $60+ a year subscription for more recording history and additional features.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The idea of a battery powered Nest Doorbell is a game changer. This Nest Doorbell isn't powered by a conventional battery. It's powered by a long life rechargeable battery. All I needed to do is charge it and then mount it, and whenever I want to recharge, just use the included “key” to unmount, recharge, and place back. My other Nest Doorbell is great but I had to get it wired. This is so much easier, cheaper to install and a cleaner look. The setup was intuitive. I was able to easily add it to my lineup of devices on the Google Home app and it guided me through the whole installation and setup process, along with instructional videos. Also, the camera is sleek and feels high quality and durable. Very happy they came up with this ingenious variation of a battery powered Nest Doorbell. If you're looking for a high quality doorbell camera without the hassle and expense of wiring, this is it. Also, a great option for renters, due to its “portability.”

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Mounting the Nest doorbell was somewhat of a pain. I found figuring out what I was supposed to do confusing, but once I had that down the install was easy. The way the app walks you through it just makes it harder I feel like. Once the doorbell was configured and in place, it took A LOT of effort to get al the notifications working. They offer some advanced notifications behind a paywall along with longer video, I won't bother. I really bought it for a doorbell and some proof if someone steals a package. It also doesn't come with a bell of any sort, which is fine because it alerts the phone but it would have been nice to include. When first in place the device drained power very rapidly, it was losing about 10% per 4 hours, and had only recorded 16 events. Eventually ithe battery life seems to have leveled out. I no longer send alerts for people or packages so that might be helping battery life. After recharge, it says I have 2 months of battery life left. Image from the camera is fine in the day time. At night, the night vision seems to illuminate the face so much you can't even make it out. Overall, it's functioning as it should. There are features I wish it had, and wish weren't behind a paywall. I wish I had the capacity to wire it and not worry about the battery. And I know it never would, but HomeKit secure video would have been dope.

The app for my smart phone was easy to download and easy to navigate.it has a clean and clear picture that covers a great deal of landscape. I really like the video and plan to add to it.
