[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just installed the Google Nest Doorbell – and so far, I can recommend it based on the fact that overall - it works great and does everything I'd hoped and expected. Here are the other pros: - Installation guide was easy to start and understand. - The actual connection to the permanent bracket is very simple and easy to use when needing to charge the doorbell. - Connection to the app and setting up the device was very straight forward. - Camera quality is good, as is the audio clarity for the microphone and speaker - Hoping battery life is good with video on its highest setting - to be determined,. There are a few cons: - Our mounting point is on Hardi siding, and the mounting bracket is not ideal for an angled surface such as this. It took a few tries to get a good spot on the siding that was vertical as needed. The resulting aesthetic is not ideal with empty space behind the bracket – it makes it look a bit temporary. - The battery powered version does not provide an audible ring tone outside, so people who press it may not have a sense of whether it's working or not. - I'm guessing this is user error – but the notification on my phone and iPad aren't audible. I almost wish the notification was a loud “ding dong” like a doorbell. - Adding family members to the Home account for access to this required a Google email account (not everyone in the family has one).

The app for my smart phone was easy to download and easy to navigate.it has a clean and clear picture that covers a great deal of landscape. I really like the video and plan to add to it.

It also comes with a month of Nest Aware, a premium subscription to expand your storage. It is a very sturdy product. The battery life is excellent and the live feed/video is clear to see and hear.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The idea of a battery powered Nest Doorbell is a game changer. This Nest Doorbell isn't powered by a conventional battery. It's powered by a long life rechargeable battery. All I needed to do is charge it and then mount it, and whenever I want to recharge, just use the included “key” to unmount, recharge, and place back. My other Nest Doorbell is great but I had to get it wired. This is so much easier, cheaper to install and a cleaner look. The setup was intuitive. I was able to easily add it to my lineup of devices on the Google Home app and it guided me through the whole installation and setup process, along with instructional videos. Also, the camera is sleek and feels high quality and durable. Very happy they came up with this ingenious variation of a battery powered Nest Doorbell. If you're looking for a high quality doorbell camera without the hassle and expense of wiring, this is it. Also, a great option for renters, due to its “portability.”

It is very easy to install and you can either use the battery or they give you wires to hardwire it to your doorbell so no battery needed. Works great! The picture quality is very clear, the audio is very clear and its the perfect size. We tested the range to see how far the camera will record and we were very impressed. We could see all the way down the driveway into the street and all of the front yard. It detects if it is an animal or an actual person. So easy to connect to your phone and works great with no problems. We love it that it has easy instructions and we were done in a short time. We highly recommend and even our neighbor went out and purchased one for their home. We also are purchasing another for the back side of the house. Highly recommend!

I installed this doorbell probably 10 days ago on a full charge and according to the google home app, I still have 3 weeks of battery life left. I originally was going to hardwire the power source but at this rate, the battery is fine. Saved me some time and hassle

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just got our Nest Doorbell (battery) recently. First of all the set up was easy as pie, and the walk through instructions were clear. The installation has all the hardware for wood or masonry. They even tell you what pilot holes to drill in the instructions. You can have a google tech install it for you if you prefer, which is nice for the non mechanical types. Nice options for battery or wire up. I am going remote so I am using battery. Got the account set up with "google home" APP and put wife as a add on "guest/s" to operate also. I get myself and 5 extra guests per account. Picture is clear, and got the sound of my voice to hear ok. You do have to pre charge camera for about 3 hours prior to final install. I just charge off the computer (or laptop, etc.) which is recommended in the USB port (came with cable). I am not too tech'y, but I can definitely assure you that if I can set this up, -- just about anyone can. You get 3 hours history records free or you can subscribe to more. You have options, which in life, is good to have. The look of the camera is really clean and modern. The unit is water resistant -- not water proof. I was going to put in the back, but it gets over 104 F degrees and that is not the recommended. So I am opting for the entry to keep in the weather requirements. If I wash the entry, I will remove it temporarily with the release tool that it comes with. Nice to have a pair of eyes on the front door when out and about, great product Nest/Google!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was interested in the Nest Doorbell over other video doorbells because of the high rating from Consumer Reports for the wired version. I researched ahead of time and was under the impression this was compatible with Alexa, but after 2 hours trying to link this to my Alexa skill and lots of wifi/app and other troubleshooting and then more time for additional research it became clear that the battery version has no Alexa compatibility as of this writing. The wired version does. Seriously? We are an Alexa house. We had a doorbell but no way to hear audible chimes/alerts in the house (or see video) unless using the app on my phone. So I tried to figure out how I could make this work for us. SimpliSafe hub compatibility? Nope. Only the Nest Thermostat is compatible with the SimpliSafe hub. Are you sensing my frustration? So I bit the bullet and bought 2 Google Nest minis so that we could hear the audible chime in the house for the doorbell. Even with both of the minis at max volume for alerts, the chime is not as loud as our previous doorbell. As far as set up, it was quick and easy. FYI - you need a google email account for set up (I do not, my husband does). The Google Home app is straightforward to use and setting up the doorbell was easy. As far as installation, you will need to drill holes to install. In the 36 hours since we have been using this, the battery has gone from 100% (6mos) to 95% (4 mos). We are a family of 4 with average usage and camera activity. But it's been cold out, as in less than 25 degrees. So at this rate during winter, I expect to have to recharge the battery at 2 months or perhaps earlier. The battery is not able to be independently removed for charging (also not allowing me to purchase additional batteries for convenience). You have to remove the entire doorbell from the mount to charge it. Complete miss on this design. So, if the lack of Alexa compatibility, potential for short battery life, and the charging inconvenience aren't going to negatively impact you, you will probably have a more positive experience than I have. It's not all negative. The video is great, the response time is great and it looks nice. Wondering whether I would be happier with a SimpliSafe or Ring doorbell, but this is what we have so I'll stick with it for now.

I got this model because it can be wireless and run on rechargeable battery only. Although I did end up ding wired to my old doorbell. Being wired it rings the inside old doorbell so I can hear it in the house. But it also notifies me on the app that someone is at the door. I love being able to see who it is from my phone. Now I can avoid solicitors all together, yay. The app was very easy to install and use. I like that I can have it alert me by people, motion, animals and or cars. I have it set to people and animals only since I live on a busy road and cars would set it off constantly. It will save 3 hours of recording so that is not to bad. I can sign up for the service and it will save up to 60 days of video, most likely I will end up doing that. You can also set it up to record sound and I am able to talk with people at the door through it. The unit is a bit bulky and heavy due to the battery pack. When not wired you can easily remove the unit, you do have to use a little key to get it off, and it is easy to do. So far I am loving it.
