[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Barrel-Aged Rye Red Blend had a beautiful dark color and aromas of berry and ginger. I can see myself relaxing on my veranda overlooking the backyard while enjoying this delicious red blend with sharp cheddar cheese.

This wine has a mild sweetness to the aroma and flavor. It’s not too dry. I don’t like it when a wine will leave you feeling thirsty immediately after taking a sip. We had this alone. But, I feel that it would pair well with a European meat and cheese charcuterie board.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A rye barrel aged wine is a fun, exciting concept. As a lover of so many red wines I knew a red blend would be fun and I was right. The plum, blackberry and black cherry all compliment this wine. Because of the sweetness of this red blend, I loved pairing it with a sharper cheese. I found myself wanting to go back for more several times! While I didn’t taste but a hint of the gingerbread notes I loved this wine.

For me the red was a little stong and I did the one thing you are not suppose to do.....I added ice and then I did enjoy it. Maybe I just like my wine chilled.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tried this wine hoping it would have a sweet flavor, but it did not. It was fruity, but too bitter for me, and was a dark red in color. I tired it with a few friends and we liked that you could really taste the flavors within the wine, but did not enjoy how dry this ended up being. The dryness made it harder to drink. It is definitely better chilled and I would recommend it being paired with sweet fruit or cheese.

This was a great way to taste the holidays though. Pairs wonderfully with gouda and swiss cheese and crackers. If it had been colder weather I would have tried this with fondue.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Robert Mondavi Private Selection Rye Barrel-Aged Red Blend has a unique combination of flavors that confused my senses. The dryness of the tasty Rye seems to clash with the sweetness of the Red Blend. Although the aroma is inviting, I did not appreciate the Gingerbread Spice taste. It has an immediate bite with odd woodsy aftertaste. Definitely an acquired taste. We paired it with Delmonico Steak and Roasted Vegetables. This hearty, fruity-sweet unusual wine is worthy of my recommendation. Most likely, I will not purchase this variety again.
