Ordered in red, disappointed it looks more orange. Noted a scratch on the lid but decided to keep it. Had I not recycled the box, I would return it. The first time used, soft closed fine. Every time after use, the soft close works so far down then drops making an annoying noise. It serves it's purpose.

We've had this trashcan for 3 months. Never letting the trash to get so full, causing it to touch the top of the lid. However, the inside of the lid is already starting to rust. Making it look gross. To combat this I've taken some shelf lining sticky paper and put it on the top of the inside of the lid. Looks better than the rust. Not what I'd expect for the price.

I own two and don't hesitate to recommend these to others. The only thing I'd suggest is to place a 6" 2x2 (or two square ABC-type blocks) between the can and the wall so the lid mechanism doesn't wear a groove in your wall when someone repeatedly pushes the can while stepping on the lever. I didn't have any issues while living by myself, but had my roommate couldn't step on the levers without pushing the can into the wall.... Problem fixed, but sharing. :) Easy to swap 13 gallon bags when needed, and I sometimes pull the insert out to put near the counter when chopping lots of vegetables at once. Highly recommend. Love the Tramontina trash cans!!

I have purchased three of these. The can is fantastic except the foot-pedal. The foot pedal is a large plastic part that extends from the front to the back of the trash can. It has a pivot point so that force from your foot pressing down the pedal lifts the back rods. The rods are metal and the remaining plastic pieces do not receive much force so are simply perfect. But, the bottom petal at the point were it pivots is where it breaks. No reinforcement of plastic is done around the pivot point. A recent review photo shows the breakage. Most negative reviews are also of this problem. Where the metal force resistance rod moves through the plastic is the point of pivot. The company really needs to add additional plastic reinforcement (a thick plastic doughnut or washer should work) or better yet a metal cage to hold the weight through the pivot. It is a great trash can, but I need to move on. Replacing 3 is 1 too many for me. I don't want to contribute that much to the landfill and the cash from my pocket. I wouldn't mind buying one every 10 years or so, but 3 in 5 years is simply too many.

I bought one of the in red a few years ago. Ever time I wipe it off with my sponge and dishwater, a little of the red finish comes off. I have places that it is down to the bare metal. I can’t remember what I paid for it, but I’m on here looking for another trash can and was shocked these are still being sold. Mine looks very crappy because of the finish. I would not recommend.

I purchased this with reservations due to the reviews. Well, it is cheap! It's not painted. It's tinted stainless steel. I bought the red one, which was beautiful. But that tint comes right off. Will not hold up to normal wear & tear. Extremely disappointed.

We loved our first one so much that we told people, "It's the best trash can ever!" The only negative, and it's a little one, is that the paint on the top faded quickly, but it's not enough that it stopped us from buying a second one! Several of our family and friends have bought them, too. But now I had to buy a new refrigerator and the can near it is too big, so I came to the site to buy one slightly smaller. Alas, they go from 3 gallons to 13, with nothing in between. I am so sad. (I tried to add pictures but it didn't work.)

We have used this bin in our kitchen for a year. It’s build quality and durability are both great but we are getting rid of it due to a massive design issue. The hinge is outside and sticks out from the bin. The lid sticks out behind that even further when it goes up. This means that you cannot have the bin against the wall. If you do it will not open without scraping and scuffing your wall. It’s so unfortunate that they didn’t do a design with the hinge inside. If you don’t need the bin to be within three inches of a wall you are good, but if you have it anywhere that it will be close to a wall be prepared to see wall damage.
