Very disappointed in the performance of this rather pricy trash can. The foot step opener broke with only gentle use. I loved it until the hands free lever failed. I cannot see a broken part but heard a snap first on one side of the foot pedal and a week later on the other side.

I loved this garbage can until I didn't. Stopped working several months after purchase. I thought it was a great can... so I foolishly tried again. The next can also broke in the same area. It is cheap plastic that is used in the foot push to the metal bars that lift the can lid. The plastic wore down and broke on two cans after a few months of use. I might be wrong, but I expected it to last at least 5 years. LOL truthfully, I wanted it to last forever.

Very nice looking, and I like the inside liner that you can take out and have nearby when you are preparing ingredients. However, the pedal does not last - it is plastic on the bottom of the unit, and it cracks. So the pedal is useless, you'll need to open the top yourself after a while. I contacted Tramontina a few months ago and they said they would get back to me. They did not.

I like the shape of the can- it fits close to the wall, and the fact that opening the lid is hands free. Unfortunately the foot pedal opening mechanism just doesn't hold up. The last 2 purchased have failed within months of purchase and upon examination, the plastic mechanism connecting the lid to the foot pedal has been made so cheaply that it is destined to fail. We have been purchasing this trash can for a number of years and previous ones took 2 or more years to break- the latest ones fail within months. I will not be purchasing this anymore and am researching for replacements that have a lid that does not require opening with hands.

Nice size and elegant trash cN in the bronze. It has an inner trash can loner to pull out and keep bag on inside but I put mine old style way for first use. It was tight but worked. It looks elegant in my bronze accented kitchen. I am soooo glad I went ahead and brought this trash can. The price was more than I wanted to pay but much more reasonable than other trash cans made like this! Thanks

I’m so unhappy with my purchase. You step on the foot pedal gently, yet it flys open smacking the counter above. I’ve moved it further and further away to prevent this, so it basically has to sit in the middle of the room. In addition, the finger prints!! Constantly cleaning this thing! It’s maddening! Total waste of money!

This is a great looking can and I loved it but after a few months it broke. The regular use of the the pedal broke the plastic piece that it is attached to and the lid could no longer be opened by it. Also, not repairable. We tried to use a plastic bonding material but that too broke loose after a few days. Now I have to buy another can. Not happy.

The foot lever broke after a couple of months. We began using the other side of the step extra gently and got a few more months out of it. Finally, it snapped completely rendering it useless. I contacted Tramontina CS and their response was to buy the foot mechanism for 17$. I asked them about the warranty due to the short time it lasted. They simply said they wouldn't and that I would need to buy the part myself. It was so rude.

Interior trash receptacle is made of styrene plastic, not rubberized like most. Beware, if you leave this in a warm space, near any warm room whatsoever, it will begin to omit a toxic odor of styrene when opened, not the smell of the garbage deposited within. This is a glue like odor, and almost made me pass out and my eyes water. I am reporting it to the Consumer Protection Agency for review. This item perhaps should be recalled, and have the interior plastic receptacle replaced!

Bought 2 if these and the color on lids just peels off. This is the 2nd replacement of the lids and the same exact thing is happening. Must be a manufacturer defect in the finish. Do not buy this trash can in a colored finish or it will look like this is less than a year.
