Noisy Tires

Bought a set of Defender LTX M/S tires about 6 months ago. When I first drove with them I noticed that they were very noisy. Had them rotated and balanced at 6000 miles. I discussed the noise problem with the dealer and he had a technician drive my vehicle after the tires were rotated. The technician said the tires sounded quiet to him. I had him ride with me and he said he could hear the tire noise but considered them to be quiet, "quieter than most". I have never had tires this noisy. I would not recommend these tires if you want a quiet ride.

I put these onto my 2004 Tacoma when I first purchased it new and after 6 years & 95,000 miles, I've decided to replace them with another set.. I've driven on them 60 miles roundtrip to work everyday - in snow and blistering heat. All I've ever done is rotated and balanced... I couldn't be any happier!

These tires have gone ...

These tires have gone 72,000 miles and I am currently debating buying new ones even though my mechanic says I am nuts and will probably get at least another 20,000 out of them.I have nothing but tremendous praise for the Michelin engineers . I have been buying Michelin tires exclusively for over 28 years and have to say as a former tire salesman , NOTHING BEATS A MICHELIN !!!!!!!

The best tires I have ever owned

I have been utilizing the Michelin LTX MS tire on my 2002 LX470 for the last 11 years. I have 136,000 miles on the vehicle and am on my second set of tires, which still have good tread on them. I use the vehicle for just about everything, from going camping, to the beach and running around town on errands. The vehicle has constant all wheel drive, so I expected the tires to not have as much life, clearly this is not the case. I currently am in the process of procuring a new set of these, not because of the tread or sidewall appearance, but due to the number of years and miles they have on them,(over 66,000) I feel it is time from a safety standpoint. Aside from longevity, they handle exceptionally well, especially for a vehicle of this size and weight. The traction is true and devoid of that "greasy" feel I have noticed in other tires over the years. Bottom line is, Michelin has done an outstanding job with this product line..don't change a thing.

The vehicle that the ...

The vehicle that the tires are used on is primarily my wife's car. She is a nurse who works the night shift (12hrs) and drives at night and in the early morning hours. My chief priorty is for her safety which I believe is provided through the great road handling abilities of the Michelin tires. In Oregon during the winter months we have a substantial amount of rain and the Michelin tires are designed to easily disperse the water off the edge of the tires. Because of this safety feature there is less likelihood of hydroplaning, especially when it is dark out and you can't see the standing water on the freeway or surface streets. Also because of this design feature, it eleminates the necessity of going to the additional expense of having the tire sipped. There was also a noticeable difference in the handling and performance of the Michelin tires. For safety, performance, and comfort you won't find a better tire in the industry. Period!

Snow traction is back!

Had to replace the OEM Hankook Ventus all season tires at 28k miles. They didn’t last long. The major snowfall of the season they had me questioning my Explorer. It’s 4WD and even in the snow mode, traction wasn’t there. Braking was horrible, ABS was kicking in all the time. Felt like I was back to driving my Town Car, and even that dealt with the snow better. The Ford dealer agreed these tires were about done. Weeks later the dealer hooked me up with these tires. No more flat spots. The ride improved, quieter too. Yes I know new tires make a difference. But the old tires weren’t that old. The next snowfall was a big improvement. Traction was back, braking was confident. 1,000 miles with these tires and so far I’m sold this was a smart purchase. 6 inches of unplowed roads this morning and I felt much more confident. Driving smart of course. Cannot say how long these will last but my precious experience of these tires on a ‘99 Tahoe was favorable too. Good tires for this vehicle.

I've used Michelin tires ...

I've used Michelin tires on most of my vehicles over quite a few years (1st was a 1969 Oldsmobile Toronado). I've been using the LTX M/S on all my SUV's since 1989. The one thing that sets these tires apart from others of similar design is the tread life. There really nothing I didn't like about this tire. Good in snow and good in wet conditions. Quiet on the highway. In fact, I have recommended this tire to several of my relatives and friends.

Outstanding tire at 225k miles

On my 06 Honda Ridgeline, these tires were OEM and lasted +100k miles. Since then I've replaced them with two more sets of non-Michelin tires and have hated them every mile. Now, at 225k miles, I've gone back to the Michelin tire and love them. I'd forgotten how quite good tires should be. They give me fantastic wet-road performance. Haven't yet been in the snow yet, but if they perform like my original tires, they'll be great. My advice, spend the extra for these tires. They're worth every penny.
