The rum barrel adds the perfect, yet oh so slight rum flavor. Robert Mondavi Private Selection Rum Barrel Aged Merlot is complex yet smooth. Definitely recommend.

We don't do the traditional pairings but drink it with what we are having. Since it was a summery evening, we had it with chicken from the grill. A great combination of the smokey grilled chicken and the robust wine flavor. If I have to drink Merlot, this one isn't a bad choice.

It was easy drinking and would work well in warm weather.

We especially enjoyed the delicate balance of dryness to sweetness. The deep flavors of the fruit coupled with the hints of vanilla and spice rounded out a very enjoyable bottle of wine. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The rum flavor added a layer of complexity not typically found in merlot for me. This paired great with our charcuterie board. The wine was rich enough for the fatty meat and cheeses but not full-bodied enough to overpower the palate.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I enjoyed the Merlot by Robert Mondavi. It was a lighty flavored wine that pairs well with chicken, lighter meats and roasted veggies. Theres an aroma of molasses and plum. I also enjoy the slight notes of vanilla and rum flavor at the end. Overall this is a fantastic wine and a great grab to bring to all functions.

While it has a strong, rich intense aroma and smelled so good, we all agreed that taste wise it just wasn't for us. I love that it pairs with Bolognese, coconut curry, and dark chocolate. Some of my favorites. I would not buy this again.
