the trash can seemed well designed and it lasted is for a few years but the design flaw is the pedal. the stupid thing is made of thin plastic with a metal cover. so of course it broke from stepping on it over and over and over again. I don't know why it's not made entirely metal.

NOT scratch resistant. I purchased this in charcoal, and within a week, the top is so scratched that it looks terrible. Every other aspect is great- smooth closing lid, nice size, and I like the removable liner bin- but I would not buy it again.

Bought 2 if these and the color on lids just peels off. This is the 2nd replacement of the lids and the same exact thing is happening. Must be a manufacturer defect in the finish. Do not buy this trash can in a colored finish or it will look like this is less than a year.

Nice size and elegant trash cN in the bronze. It has an inner trash can loner to pull out and keep bag on inside but I put mine old style way for first use. It was tight but worked. It looks elegant in my bronze accented kitchen. I am soooo glad I went ahead and brought this trash can. The price was more than I wanted to pay but much more reasonable than other trash cans made like this! Thanks

We loved our first one so much that we told people, "It's the best trash can ever!" The only negative, and it's a little one, is that the paint on the top faded quickly, but it's not enough that it stopped us from buying a second one! Several of our family and friends have bought them, too. But now I had to buy a new refrigerator and the can near it is too big, so I came to the site to buy one slightly smaller. Alas, they go from 3 gallons to 13, with nothing in between. I am so sad. (I tried to add pictures but it didn't work.)

Very disappointed in the performance of this rather pricy trash can. The foot step opener broke with only gentle use. I loved it until the hands free lever failed. I cannot see a broken part but heard a snap first on one side of the foot pedal and a week later on the other side.

This is a great looking can and I loved it but after a few months it broke. The regular use of the the pedal broke the plastic piece that it is attached to and the lid could no longer be opened by it. Also, not repairable. We tried to use a plastic bonding material but that too broke loose after a few days. Now I have to buy another can. Not happy.

I don't really care for this trash can. The lid only stays open when the foot pedal is pressed (no way for it to stay open on its own). This makes it difficult when changing the bag, because when the foot pedal is depressed, it takes a lot of finagling to properly get the inner can into the bin. Also, the inside of the lid is rusting, which is... odd. I honestly wish I hadn't bought it, but I'd thrown the box away as soon as I unpacked it because I really didn't think I'd be returning a trash can. Eventually I'll tire of it and buy something else, but right now I'm not about to waste the over $50 I paid for it.

I own two and don't hesitate to recommend these to others. The only thing I'd suggest is to place a 6" 2x2 (or two square ABC-type blocks) between the can and the wall so the lid mechanism doesn't wear a groove in your wall when someone repeatedly pushes the can while stepping on the lever. I didn't have any issues while living by myself, but had my roommate couldn't step on the levers without pushing the can into the wall.... Problem fixed, but sharing. :) Easy to swap 13 gallon bags when needed, and I sometimes pull the insert out to put near the counter when chopping lots of vegetables at once. Highly recommend. Love the Tramontina trash cans!!

We have used this bin in our kitchen for a year. It’s build quality and durability are both great but we are getting rid of it due to a massive design issue. The hinge is outside and sticks out from the bin. The lid sticks out behind that even further when it goes up. This means that you cannot have the bin against the wall. If you do it will not open without scraping and scuffing your wall. It’s so unfortunate that they didn’t do a design with the hinge inside. If you don’t need the bin to be within three inches of a wall you are good, but if you have it anywhere that it will be close to a wall be prepared to see wall damage.
