Camellia beans are the best for red beans and rice! They are great quality and way more fresh than other store bought dried kidney beans. I am so grateful there is reasonable shipping offers for out of state/Louisiana deliveries! (I used to haul A LOT of beans in my luggage when we lived overseas— one of my top most missed things from home!)

These beans are a staple for red beans and rice at our house. They are the brand my grandmother used when I was a child (1950’s). So pleased they are available at Sam’s.

In my opinion the best red bean.

I was disappointed in how these beans lose their color with soaking. And, I did not realize there is a difference between red kidney beans and the small red beans that are usually used to make creole or cajun LA red beans and rice. Camellia sells both kinds, but Sam's only carries these. I cannot complain about the results I had in preparing them, they were delicious, but there is a difference between the two types of beans and when this bag is gone, I will be looking for the small red beans and see how the two compare.

Expected better from supposed premium brand. Size of beans varies greatly, color is mostly light brown, some are wrinkled and some are sprouting. On the plus side the taste is good. I ordered 4 bags. Upon arrival 3 of the bags were completely destroyed and the beans were in the bottom of the shipping box. This was partly due to Sam's packing heavy canned items in the same box as these soft packs - partly due to weak bags used by bean supplier.

The beans were at the bottom of the shipping box. They were packaged in bags, not boxes, and Sam’s placed heavy items in the same box with these soft packs. As a result, the bags broke and beans spilled everywhere. FedEx should have returned the package, as it was obvious the contents were not properly contained inside the box.
