It spread so easily on our toast and bagels and added just enough creaminess to our oatmeal! I had been using margarine sticks, but I will definitely add Country Crock Original to my grocery list!

I got it free to try, and we spread some on our biscuits for breakfast. I'm a butter lover, and find Country Crock, while it doesn't taste exactly like butter, is more than acceptable as a substitute. I like the ease of spreading it without tearing up my bread, pancakes, or whatever I'm eating. It's not overly salty, but is a little oilier than I'm used to, but is pretty tasty, besides that.

Now I use butter at least twice a day and unsalted butter at least twice a day (aspiring baker). Now as for normal day use mostly to me...butter is butter,but to be able to use in place of unsalted butter is a real treat! The butter itself has to have a rich flavor in order to accommodate for taste in unsalted butter recipes. So I put country crock to the test in a flaky pie shell. Let me tell you,the pie crust came out beautifully! It was light and airy and the taste was spot on. It had a strong buttery taste(which is what I was looking for) that wasn't overpowering but strong enough to compliment the taste of cherry ...

I frankly always felt that like sugar substitutes that rarely taste like the real thing, I sort of held the same level of expectations for this spread. Not like margarine in any way and no oil residues are left on your palette. It melts in your mouth just like a high quality butter would and you are just left with the desire to take another shaving off with your butter knife. The product’s true flavor came through and the richness increases as the spread comes to room temperature. There is a very small amount of true butter, yet it is rich like if the entire portion was dairy derived...

I have used only real butter for several years, but tried this spread anyway. I used it on my waffles this morning. While the flavor was pretty good, I felt that it made my waffles much soggier than when I use butter. I don't know that I will continue to use it as a spread, but it is probably a good product for baking certain items. I will try using it for that and will leave a second review after.

To me, these had the best taste of any margarine/spread out there, and I even liked better than real butter. Recently I bought a couple of the original cartons in the new square packing, thinking these may be more space efficient in the refrigerator. Unfortunately, I did not notice the "New Simple Recipe" tag on the container. This was definitely not the taste I knew and loved. In fact, I can't stand the taste, and will just have to dump these and go back to butter. This is sad, as this was once a fabulous product.

I will totally recommend this 'cause you can spread some in a piece of bread without adding anything else and it will taste amazing! It's really soft and doesn't have a strong flavor or smell and is not salty! What I like the most is that is not greasy at all, it's actually kind of creamy. Love it on sandwiches, but I also used it for any food that requires butter.

My rice, vegetables...everything I can think of to put butter on this haven't given me any problems. This little tub goes a long way too! I believe I purchased a tub of this in January of this year and now I'm almost empty so I will be buying another. For a 5lb tub for this price you can't get this type of deal anywhere else.

But then upon getting a fresh container I realized that it was the recipe. My kids took one taste, before I even told them about the change, and they asked me what was wrong with the butter. They hate it and asked me if I would buy something else. We went ahead and finished the container, because I don't like to waste food or money. I used it in things where other ingredients would cover up the flavor more. So sorry to have to leave Country Crock after using the butter for about 20 years but it just tastes like a bunch of chemicals to us. Funny that you say it's made without added chemicals or preservatives, etc. Because it tastes like you added about twenty more.
