I had been using ICY Hot (actually from the same maker) forever, and it works to relieve my shoulder at least for a few hours. I thought these will be at least closed, but it's not. No effect, the gooey part of it, and sticky not staying on, sounds like it is defective.

These patches do help, but it needs to be remembered that they're not prescription strength. If one holds the sticky side too long, one's fingers definitely feel a little numb. These will not treat serious pain, but in a time when the medications that truly relieve pain are being denied or cut back from people who are truly experiencing real, significant pain it's one of the multiple forms of pain relief I use to get me through the day. It really is nicer to be able to take medication and get massage and feel normal rather than work through the multiplicity of expensive treatments I now have to use to get less than half as much pain relief, but we chronic pain patients are now safe from overdoses (which, if the real facts are known, are almost always caused by illegal drug diversion or other illegal situations). Buy them - they're not expensive and won't leave you drenched in sweat in warm weather like the ones that heat up (although those are very effective).

Since childhood, my parents and grandparents were using salonpas, a well known and trusted brand to ease and aid with pain. The heat it produces soothes the pain. Recently, I purchased it and to my dismay, when I stuck it to my skin, it was cold almost like ice, and did not alleviate my back pain.If you are looking for something warm or will produce some heat, this is not the product I will recommend.

I purchased Salonpas 4% Lidocaine for a chronic knee pain condition (2.5 years). This is the BEST topical I have found. I have used the smaller menthol-based Salonpas... they also work well (have a light scent). THIS patch works much better. If you pain condition can improve with a topical pain-reliever, this patch is right for you. Cheers, Salonpas!!!

Yea These numb the pain area but they are so difficult to keep on. They constantly curl up on the edges. I ended up putting a wrap around the patch so it would stay in place. And that is so very hard to do if it’s on your back. I think if they had a sticky border that wasn’t gel it would work way better.
