Great basketball hoop

Bought this for my college age son. The only reason I didn't put 5 stars on the overall rating and quality is because of the lack of pre-drilled holes for the pads on the lower part of the backboard. It was a lot of work to assemble and the directions were pretty good. It helped to have 3 of us to do the final assembly steps. Took 2 people to hold the backboard while my son connected it to the pole. The large backboard is terrific and the mechanism for raising/lowering it works well. If my son wasn't as mechanically capable, it would have taken longer to assemble it. As it was, it took about 3.5 hours overall. Worth it in the long run and this is far better quality than the previous one he had.

Engineering flaw in sections 1.2 & 1.3 of manual

Everything about the set up was easy and self explanatory, except for sections 1.2 & 1.3. They assume that the screw holes to the poles will line up when you push them together and we were lucky enough for this to happen on 1.3, but on 1.2 the screw holes did not line up and the poles became stuck in a position that made it impossible to pull them apart. Since these holes didn't line up, we can't secure the backboard frame to the pole. I repair hot tubs for a living, so I'm pretty mechanically inclined and this is a major design flaw that should have been addressed. I called their customer service number and their solution was to drop the poles on the ground several times and the vibration should cause them to loosen. This didn't work!!! We can't take it back to our local Sam's Club, because we bought it online and we can't ship it back, because the poles are stuck together. If you can get past sections 1.2 and 1.3 you're in the clear, but if not you have a $429 basketball hoop that's sitting unusable in your backyard!!!

We apologize about the frustration with the assembly of your new basketball hoop. Regarding sections 1.2 and 1.3, we apologize for any frustration caused by the screw hole alignment. We understand your concern and want to clarify that in step 1.2, the screw is intended to keep the holes lined up before seating the poles together. We appreciate your feedback and will consider it for future improvements to our assembly instructions. As for the issue with the poles becoming stuck and the inability to separate them, we're sorry to hear about your trouble. We do have one method that has proven successful in separating the poles, which you can find in this video walkthrough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WNdppuh7F8. We hope this solution helps resolve the situation. If you have any further questions, please reach out to us at reviews@lifetime.com.

Great all around

I have to admit that a friend assembled it for me so I don't have any comments on how easy it was. The finished product is solid. Very easy to adjust. We even had some high winds and with the water and sand in place it did not tip over. Very pleased!

Very nice basketball system for the price.

This is a very nice basketball system for the price and is the second one I purchased. The one I purchased about four years ago has held up well. I took my time to familiarize myself with the parts and installation instructions and did not find it difficult to assemble,

Heavy duty! Easy to put together with 2 people. Go by the instructions and utube, it will take about 6-8 hours.

52 Lifetime Basketball System

My 14 year old son and I spent about 4 hours to assemble, no trips to the hardware store it was all there but you need a few wenches, sockets and a drill for a few of the self tapping screws. Otherwise it is fairly straight forward assembly.
