Perfect for kids, calm waters

Just add a life vest. Bought one each for my 8 and 6 year old and they've had no trouble paddling around both a quiet pond and a calm ocean inlet. Max weight 130 lbs. Lightweight but sturdy and wide. Slightly awkward to carry for anything more than a few feet, so we are considering getting travel wheels.

Great product!!!

My kids received these for their birthday!! They love them!! We did have an issue where one of paddles broke the first day using it. I called customer service and they were quick to help us with replacing it under the warranty! This is a great product for the beginners as they caught on easily with how to use them! Now I’m being asked everyday to go out! If your looking for something fun and relaxing to do on the water I’d highly suggest getting one!!

Great Gift Papa!

My dad bought my son a blue kayak and my daughter the pink. They offer hours of enjoyment for the kids and piece of mind for me known that the kayaks are quality made and durable enough to handle whatever my kids's imaginations can put them through!

Stable, tracks well, easy to use.

Stable, good tracking, EASY to use. We got this for our daughter as a 5th birthday gift. She took to it immediately, and had no trouble steering this around the lake. We thought we had a child prodigy until one of her cousins hopped on and started paddling well immediately also. This kayak is stable, it tracks well, and it's easy for the kids to jump off and get back on. We found that our kids like to alternate paddling with jumping off and swimming in intervals too.

A good start for Kids

We first saw these at a big box sport retailer. They are lightweight and manageable by kids but robustly built. We have not tried them in the water however. But this is for the kids to bang around in at the lake and get used to kayaking. Walmart is the only place we could find that includes the paddle and the backrest. The paddle is well made. The backrest is lightweight foam with a nylon adjustable strap. I'm not sure how long it will last before I'll have to make a new one. But it gets the job done.

Easy carry and transport

We bought 2 of these for our kids for christmas. We love them! We use them for fishing on fishing lakes/ponds and any lake we can get on! I was suprised that it could hold my weight also . I'm over the weight limit it suggests, but I ride them just fine. I fight my kids to use them! We love them so much hoping to get more under the tree this year

Super Versatile Kayak!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have 2 sit in style kayaks and wanted a sit on top one for my grand kids, since they like to go swimming. I found this last year on sale at a local sporting good store. My 13 year old grandson loves it- he can easily get on and off to go for a swim & use it as a stand up paddle board, too!

Great Kayak

I bought this because the river is just a little to deep for my little guy to stand in it and this is light enough for me to carry it to the edge and pull him in the river and then ancore it so he could fish next to me. After a little bit he set him loose and he was able to row up stream with a pretty good wind in his face. Great product and great price.

Perfect for kids and small adults

These kayaks are perfect for kids and smaller adults. They definitely won't support a larger adult FYI but the kids love them. They're light enough that I can grab one out of the water and carry it up to the car with one hand while holding the baby on my other hip. Easy to load. Great value.

Why was it made with pre-formed 2 holes in it?

I do like it, it was just what I wanted.. something I could carry, me being small, to the car and to the water all by myself. It is comfortable, my back hasn't been strained, and with the keel on bottom, it doesn't slide from side to side when paddled like some other small paddle boats. The paddle is even a high quality ! I had been looking for a kayak this size , not a sit upon, but couldn't find one. I just dont' understand why they manufacted this with two holes in the bottom, thus , once once's weight is in the boat, you are always sitting in a cold puddle of water. I also don't understand why they market this as a kayak when it's really a 'sit upon'..I have used it 30 min. a day every day and it is relaxing and wonderful.. but I'm now going to have to buy a wetsuit or somehow put fiberglass over those holes when summer is over, as I wanted to use it year round...

The holes are used for self bailing purposes so that the water has a place to drain off of the kayak when it gets on top. Water shouldn’t normally come up through them, but when the water is a bit wavy small amounts of water can splash up through the holes. You can buy scupper plugs to plug the holes, but when water gets on top of the kayak it has nowhere to drain.
