I ordered one of these kayaks from a big sports retailer for my daughter's birthday. I placed the order weeks in advance, as I know these items are hard to get in the summer. After 2 weeks, I checked on the status of my order & it was "unclear" whether it would be available on time. While on hold, I ordered the kayak at Walmart.com - got FREE SHIPPING - and was done. A week later, my kayak arrived days before the birthday. Thank you Walmart. I now have 2 of these kayaks -- they are excellent for kids. Light weight = easy to carry, the back allows children to slide off & climb back on in the water, it comes with a paddle and it is hours & hours of fun. When my youngest kids are a bit older, I will be ordering more of these for them.

I have an adult 12' sit on top fishing kayak and wanted to introduce my grandchildren (4 & 6) to the sport. Our first two launches were in a neighborhood pool and the shallow end of a sandy beach. The kayak proved to be stable and with a little assist (deeper), they were able to climb up from the side and from the rear swim platform. Their paddle technique will take some time to master at this age. In the meantime, they used it as a dive platform and had a blast with grandpa. The manufacturer (Lifetime) pricing is erratic. I've seen the blue as low as $104 (sold out) and the yellow at $115. All colors come with a color coordinated (right sized) paddle but only the yellow includes the seat back attachment. Individually, the seat back is over priced at $30. As a package premium of say $10, it is reasonable. I purchased the yellow with a seat back. The kayak was shipped to my local store at no charge. It arrived damage free within a week. I am pleased with my Walmart purchase and look forward to the next eight years before they will have to size upgrade.

My son has taken this out 2 times so far (river and a pond) and it is very stable and easy for him to maneuver. We upgraded the seat with one from Academy since he is smaller. Great purchase for the money. He'll get a few years out of it for sure. And the $1.97 shipping from Walmart.com can't be beat!

We bought 2, for our sons, 8 and 6 years old. We thought, what the heck, at $99 each, free shipping to the store, comes with a seat and paddle, how could you go wrong. We are not disappointed. The boys love them and go out in our lagoon regularly. They are easy to maneuver, easy to pull up on the dock, just the right size for beginners. And they are very stable. After swimming both are able to climb back up on the kayak, no problem. We have other Lifetime products which all seem to be quality and stand up to normal use. I would conclude that after a month of use so far, these will continue to be trouble free and provide hours and hours of outdoor fun.

We purchased a couple youth kayaks and my kids were so nervous to use them, now we can't get them to share. They love taking them out on the lake and love the fact that they can do paddle alone. It's been a great way to get them off the couch and wanting to explore outside.

I bought one for my 4 year old daughter and another for my 3 year old son. Landon S. was such a big help in helping us choose what was right for us! My daughter can maneuver easily and very well on her own, plus she's only about 45 lbs. so she has a long life out of this until she's up to the 135 lb weight limit.

Our 3 year old boy used one of these recently at a swimming hole we visit, and he was enamored! We did not even have to teach him how to maneuver it. He got out there and rowed all over the swimming hole. The boat is very stable and easy to steer - he never fell off. I bought him one for his 4th birthday, and he loves it. What a great price too!

I bought this because the river is just a little to deep for my little guy to stand in it and this is light enough for me to carry it to the edge and pull him in the river and then ancore it so he could fish next to me. After a little bit he set him loose and he was able to row up stream with a pretty good wind in his face. Great product and great price.

I bought this kayak on sale for just over $80 specifically for my two granddaughters, aged 8 and 13. The kayak fit them both well although the older one might grow out of it my next summer. When it came time to try it our on flat, calm water, both of them took right off and had the hang of paddling in no time. Neither one had any prior experience kayaking. I was very impressed by how well the kayak tracked with minimum effort. The older granddaughter even took down some small rapids. Great buy and a lot of fun. Be aware the shipping took close to 2 weeks despite what you are told by the tracking info.

This kayak AND another smaller one arrived at our front door, allowing our two kids to arrive home from school and SEE their Christmas gifts!!!!! At the very least, Amazon does give you a warning!!! Thankfully our neighbor came over and thanked us for holding these for his niece and nephew ( wink, wink)!
