Lifetime - Lifetime 20' x 8' Outdoor Storage Shed

This product was great for the price compared to wood our metal buildings. The instructions need to be updated. The metal parts were not marked, so you had to look at the pictures. Sometimes the parts were assembled wrong end do to lack of clarity. So look at the pictures really close. My wife and I assembled the shed ourselves and being retired it was hard for us at our age. Definitely pay the extra money to have it assembled.

Should last a Lifetime for sure,.

We started out with 3 capable people as stated but soon we found that we needed people that had real building experience. We had two men to build a nice foundation...and that took one day. Then we had six different people that had many years of experience (masters degrees and well educated people)...but found the directions to be very challenging. There were times when they had to reconfigure, cut or drill other than stated. This project was on and off for a couple of weeks, depending on weather and availability of our group of volunteers. When completed, the shed looks great and is very sturdy. It is overwhelming with all the parts...but I guess necessary. We estimate it took about 40 hours and 8 people. I guess it will be there way beyond our years.

Great size, aweful instructions.

If your going to have 4 boxes of parts and need parts from every single box to get started, you know it's going to be fun. NOw imagine the parts all have letters in the book, so let's print numbers on the actual that do no correlate to anything to make it harder. If you need part LEF or QRD, either print it on the part/packaging or provide a list that LEF = 01437586 so the consumer doesn't spend hours re-reading the instructions trying to decipher what your looking for. Now that it's built, it's not a solid as the Rubbermaid I have already built but is a great size and I have a second to build, we'll see if that's easier.

Great quality Shed

I bought this shirt from Sam's club and received it within a couple of weeks. I would recommend reading through the instructions prior to installation so you have a good understanding of everything. I chose to build my shed on top of a wooden platform. I constructed an 8‘ x 20‘ deck to hold the shed. My wife and I with the occasional help of one of our kids put this together over the course of three days. Probably spent a total of around 20 hours from start to finish. Before we started assembly we inventoried all parts. I recommend you do that as well. Overall we are pleased and are glad that we purchased this shed. My only complaint is that the two skylight panels seem to have a different finish then the rest of the roof. Almost as if they are glossier. We plan to write to lifetime to address the issue.

Structure itself is good.

Building it's self is nice. Delivery was problematic. Some damage to parts, but minor and cosmetic so I chose to not wait for new parts.Video clips provided by the manufacture did not always display the same sequence as the manual. It appeared the written manual and the online manual are different.

Great when finished, took longer than expected

The end unit was great, only had a coupe issues. The floor end pieces didn't match well with the middle pieces, had to work to get them to fit. The self drilling screws don't work, recommend including 4 9/32 drill bits to drill the extra holes for the extra bracing. It took another 4 hours for the extra bracing. All in all, satisfied and have a couple neighbors looking to buy similar units based on my completed unit.

Really like my shed.

Assembled myself and all the pieces didn't really fit together exactly like the instruction booklet. And the instructions were difficult to figure out. However, there were Youtube videos for the more complicated operations...which was helpful. Overall I like the building but if I were to do it again, I would have paid the extra $500 to have someone else put the "puzzle" together.

Assembly Time is wrong.

The Instruction Manual is not that easy to follow and the assembly time is not accurate. It will take you an hour to remove the panels and all the hardware pieces. The cartons were labeled Box 1-4. And to my surprise, the Instruction manual was located in Carton 3 between wall panels. I had to hire someone with home construction experience to help me to assemble the shed. Total assembly time was over 16 hours. You will also need an impact drill to complete the last phase of the roof brackets. My standard drill did not work with the self-drilling screws into the metal trusses.

Surprising great construction

We are almost finished with the construction of our shed. Maybe you should offer a bucket of patience with the kit because we almost used up all of ours! It would have been helpful if all of the pieces and parts were properly labeled rather than having to guess when checking the parts against the inventory sheets. Overall it has "gone together" quite well and I can't wait to move my potting bench and yard implements into their new home.

Great Customer Service

I have been assembling this by myself. I am doing the walls today and will have a neighbor help. So far, not bad. The only difficulty was sliding the metal door frames onto the door -- need lots of hammering with a mallet, but I got it done. It's rugged -- I had to leave its pieces exposed to the elements and it held up very well. I love the size and the niceties like windows and skylights. Only bad thing was one of the metal pieces did not get primed properly and the paint started peeling off. They responded to my concern immediately and are sending me a replacement part. There are LOTS of parts; make sure you keep items in their labeled bags so you know what goes where. The lifetime warranty is a big plus. They have videos and a help line but I have not needed these. Instructions very clear.
