LG 65" Class UQ8000-Series Ultra HD 4K WebOS 22 Smart w/ThinQ AI LED TV - 65UQ8000AUB

I purchased this two weeks ago to replace an old 50" projection set.  Easy to set up, PERFECT picture. Highly recommended.  It was very cost effective and couldn't expect better at 3X the cost.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It is incredible that in 2023 LG does not have apps that have been around for 5 years. You cannot get the ESPN app or Spectrum. There is also no word out there on whether they are working on it. I understand there is a lot of work that goes in to come to terms and agreements with vendors but come on. LG has had more than enough time to agree to something with these vendors.

I have always tried to buy LG products and had three tvs in 10 years plus. But I returned the TV because of the very very poor viewing angle. Everyone deserves a decent picture where ever they sit to watch and I'm not talking about sitting at a ridiculous angle. I brought a samsung TV instead and the viewing angle is really good and sorry to say I will not be recommending LG to my friends and family like in the past. You should not be manufacturing TV with a viewing angle that so poor because some people have family and friends around and everyone wants to see a decent colourful picture.

Very disappointing

I bought the LG 65-inch TV to replace a 13 year old TV that finally stopped working.   This is my 3rd LG "smart" television with LG's WebOS operating system.  As with my other LG TV's, the picture and sound quality are excellent.   As with other lower priced models, this TV is equipped with only 2 HDMI connectors whereas more full featured models have 3 or more HDMI's and a host of analog jacks.   With this model, I had concerns that its two HDMI connections were not enough.  Since the WebOS system does not support the Spectrum app, and one other app that I regularly use, I have to use a Roku box plugged into one of the HDMI ports to give me access to these channels.   That leaves one other HDMI for my DVD player and Sound Bar.   Fortunately, the Sound Bar connects with an optical cable to the LG TV.   But with this setup, I was initially not able to control the volume with the LG remote.  I contacted a very helpful person with LG support who guided me through some obscure setup screens that allowed the Sound Bar to synchronize with the LG TV and, voila, I am now able to control the sound bar with the LG remote.  It also controls the Roku box.  My setup now works perfectly with only 2 HDMI's and the optical audio connection.

This is my first LG TV with the "Magic Remote" control.   It differs from the other LG models in that the remote is physically larger, fitting more comfortably in my hand.  It also connects to the TV without the typical infra-red beam, so it really doesn't matter if I'm pointing the remote at the TV or not.   But shake the remote a couple of times and magically, a cursor appears on the TV screen, and you can point and click much like using a computer or video game.   I suspect that some will like this feature, but it's really overkill for my needs.  I do like the remote, especially now that it handles my TV, Sound Bar, and Roku box.  The onscreen cursor is nice, but doesn't work in some apps. 

The ThinQ interface is designed for a houseful of LG smart appliances.   I mainly use it for casting my phone to the TV screen to view photos and videos.   Its slide show capability is limited but very convenient when friends visit.  I would like to see more improvement in this area.
