Great basic TV with some magic extras

I bought the LG 65-inch TV to replace a 13 year old TV that finally stopped working. This is my 3rd LG "smart" television with LG's WebOS operating system. As with my other LG TV's, the picture and sound quality are excellent. As with other lower priced models, this TV is equipped with only 2 HDMI connectors whereas more full featured models have 3 or more HDMI's and a host of analog jacks. With this model, I had concerns that its two HDMI connections were not enough. Since the WebOS system does not support the Spectrum app, and one other app that I regularly use, I have to use a Roku box plugged into one of the HDMI ports to give me access to these channels. That leaves one other HDMI for my DVD player and Sound Bar. Fortunately, the Sound Bar connects with an optical cable to the LG TV. But with this setup, I was initially not able to control the volume with the LG remote. I contacted a very helpful person with LG support who guided me through some obscure setup screens that allowed the Sound Bar to synchronize with the LG TV and, voila, I am now able to control the sound bar with the LG remote. It also controls the Roku box. My setup now works perfectly with only 2 HDMI's and the optical audio connection. This is my first LG TV with the "Magic Remote" control. It differs from the other LG models in that the remote is physically larger, fitting more comfortably in my hand. It also connects to the TV without the typical infra-red beam, so it really doesn't matter if I'm pointing the remote at the TV or not. But shake the remote a couple of times and magically, a cursor appears on the TV screen, and you can point and click much like using a computer or video game. I suspect that some will like this feature, but it's really overkill for my needs. I do like the remote, especially now that it handles my TV, Sound Bar, and Roku box. The onscreen cursor is nice, but doesn't work in some apps. The ThinQ interface is designed for a houseful of LG smart appliances. I mainly use it for casting my phone to the TV screen to view photos and videos. Its slide show capability is limited but very convenient when friends visit. I would like to see more improvement in this area.

Well Worth the Upgrade

We finally upgraded from an LG 55" to this LG 65" and from WebOS 3.9 to WebOS 22 aka 7 which opens up access to newer apps not available to WebOS 3.9 and below. Bigger picture also helps those of us with older eyesight. The price was great at SamsClub, the picture is fine and it was easy to setup.

Love the picture/sound NOT good feet

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this TV and fell in Love the picture is so clean and crisp, the sound is awesome easy to use remote, the only problem was the feet were plastic and for a 86" TV they were not strong enough and broke and TV fell and shattered after only a month. I reached out to LG and told them what happened, and they were on top of it. They sent someone out that day and they took pictures and accessed the issue. A couple of weeks later they sent me a check for a full refund. Went back to buy same TV and BJ's were out of them, so we bought a Samsung the picture wasn't even close and the sound was horrible so we boxed it back up and waited for them to get more 86" LG's we bought a kit to attach back top of TV to wall to keep from falling over but the new LG had metal feet... Very impressed with LG all the way around.....

Love the picture and the sharpness

The only thing I would change is the remote control, it's nice looking we struggle with hitting the wrong buttons a lot especially when it's dark.

Processor slow, remote is a pain

We bought our new TV a couple of weeks ago and wish that we would have made another choice. If you're looking for a great picture and sound, this is a great TV. The price was also well within our budget. Complaints: It seems to take forever for channels to load. Please don't suggest that it's our internet speed because we have one of the fastest out there. Then there is the remote... why is a mouse type remote needed for a television? My personal suggestion is to avoid this TV and go with something else.
