Road Warriors Beware

I had the old version of this laptop for years and LOVED IT. But the new and improved is not improved at all. The old version was rugged and great quality. This backpack is terribly laid out and when compartments are loaded, the zippers open on their own as you walk...Several times getting on airplanes, I have had someone say "Sir, you are about to lose your laptop" Or "You are coming unzipped" NEVER did that happen before.

Great backpack with a minor flaw

I've owned this item for about 2 1/2 years and I love it. It's very durable and comfortable to carry. The shoulder pads are wide enough to stay put whether I use both straps or just throw it over one should at the airport. There are ample storage compartments, many with zippers or velcro. Honestly, there are times when I lose items because of the number of compartments available and remembering where I put it. The carry handle is large enough, padded, and securely attached making it handy to pick up and carry if you choose. The fabric is durable and well stitched and should last a long time. The zippers are heavy duty and work very freely. I really like that it is expandable and that it has good padding for a laptop and/or tablet, both with their own compartment. I also like the holders for a water bottle or travel mug on each side. The only downfall is, as others have said, that the zippers can work open on their own. A person needs to ensure that the two zipper pulls don't meet at the top. Generally, if both zipper pulls are pulled all the way to the bottom on either side, it isn't a problem. If they meet at the top, there is a higher likelihood of it working open. I would certainly recommend this item or buy it again if I needed one.

Buyer beware - Zippers are flawed

The design of the bag appears outstanding upon first glance. However, when bag is fully loaded with laptop, tablet, notebooks, etc. zipper will open on its own and things start falling out. I expected much more functionality and durability from Swiss Gear.

Looooong lasting!

My 18-year-old used one bag all through high school. 4 years!! Carried tools and books in it. Threw it around in the bag by a senior year. Look like crap but it took it for 4 years. They are an amazing bag. My 30-year-old also had one bag and he used it for several several years. Great, Great bag!

Horrible!!!!

I bought this backpack for work and leisure travel. The first time using it was on 09/19/22. Let me tell you, all compartments kept coming unzipped as I walked. I lost my headphones due to this. I’m not happy at all. My iPad and purse also fell out because of the poorly made bag. I was able to retrieve those items thankfully. This bag will remain in Florida as I travel home on Thursday. Very disappointed!!!!

Keeps coming unzipped

I really want to like this bag. It has lots of places to stash things. There’s a sturdy stash area for sunglasses. There’s a reinforced yet cushioned carrying handle with a metal cable inside. And indeed, this backpack will open up entirely for TSA scan with the laptop inside. HOWEVER, it’s not big enough for my 17” MacBook Pro inside a cushioned case. And worst of all, what makes it a PITA for my every day use is that it keeps coming unzipped, dumpling the contents into the floor, my car, etc. Sure, I could conscientiously zip the zipper to one side entirely so there’s no stress on the sippers when I pick it up, but that’s not realistic for me. I had such high hopes. I love this brand. It’s clearly made with attention to detail. Checking out alternative at that A to Z online place, with brands that are just a mishmash of letters, I can see the difference in quality. But the problem with the zipper makes it 2 stars at best for e dry day (student or professional) use. If it unzipped with my laptop inside I would be beside myself, since I already know a drop of 2-3 feet will crack a MacBook screen. Caveat emptor.

Great lightweight bag with the right compartments.

Lighweight, holds multiple devices, straps will stay on your shoulders for the first year. After a year of wear, the straps slip down to your elbows at the worse time. Also, do not leave the zippers at the top of the bag. Zip them over the top well down the side. If you leave them zipped at the top, the back will pop open and your electronics will be bouncing on the pavement and I had a bunch of cash which was I also had to chase through the airport road.

Great until you need a warranty replacement

Used the backpack for two years and the drink holder on both sides tore. I've been trying to get any type of response from Swiss Gear for over two weeks now and nobody seems to work there. I've followed all their warranty requirements and the claim just sits there. I tried to email them and the email just gets returned as undeliverable.... Beware if you need any type of support from Swiss Gear

Bad Zippers

I love Swiss Gear and have used their products faithfully for almost 20 years. I've never had a concern about the security of my belongings. But this one is different. The zippers are horrible and cheap. I have a Swiss Gear backpack from 2010 that I can position both pulls at the top and it never comes unzipped. I could load it up with textbooks or pack for a week and the zippers never gave. Not the case with this one. Just busted the screen on my work phone because not one but two compartments unzipped on my walk from the car to work. I will be returning it.

Jingle bells

Zippers are so good they open themselves. That's really annoying. They also clang a lot while walking with it on my back. With Christmas coming I expect to look behind me one of these days to find reindeer or elves following me. Bought some zipper clips from the jungle site and wrapped the tabs in electrical tape. Otherwise seems pretty good...
