So far, so good
So far the printer is working fine and doing what I need it to do. Was easy to set up. But I have only had it set up for less than two weeks so not a lot of time to really evaluate. Did not sign up for the free ink as too many issues from my perspective so will just buy the ink like I always have. Will say that I bought the ink thru Sam’s - one set of XL color cartridges and two sets of XL black cartridges - in the two blister packs, and ink cost more than the printer. Oh well.

Basic Research and Buy One!!!!!
Great so far, even with the ink that comes with it in the box, printer has warned me that it is low, gauge shows low, But yet continues to print!!! I have printed alot so far of paper and pictures with in box ink, thats pretty amazing. Set up was super easy (reviews had said people had alot of troubles, I almost didnt buy it because of that), So my personal technological abilities/wants/needs/etc, stop at Playstation 2 and i had No problems with setup, took longer to get it out of the box then setup did. There is a statement in either paper directions or setup prompts (sorry dont remember which) that said something about that Free Instant Ink nonsense, that said you can cancel at anytime But think it said you can Never like turn it off or something (think it meant connection to HP, so guess like they always have some Skynet connection to printer) Anyway i just said No and have not been asked or prompted about it at all since. It also said something about letting the App controlling my printing preferences and i turned that crap right off also!!! I already have Brand new replacement Hp XL cartridges sitting right next to printer ready to go, but yet like i said it continues to print on originals. Only thing i notice is that my last 2 Old Hp printers from about 5yrs and 10 yrs ago (that died, reason i bought this one "8028") the old printers did have a nicer picture printout. The new 8028 is very nice, But it seems everytime i have to buy a new printer the pic quality gets a little worse (and No its not settings or paper etc) and i only use the best Hp crap, i just think they are cheaping it up each time and hoping we dont notice!!! Its supposed to go the other way like bad to great with pictures and printing. Think of it this way, like if your first flat screen tv you ever bought was like 8K and every new tv you bought since got worse and now its like 720, still pretty decent but not as good. Last printer i had was 8610 and printed pretty good pics but one before that (Wish i remembered the Model number) printed Fabulous Glossy Deep Rich Pics. Well for the price, the cost of replacement ink and quality so far, the 8020e is Good. Oh and just read All the reviews, make a quick decision and just buy one (on sale preferably) and take your chances (i lost like 3wks of my life researching and changing my mind). And if your brand new printer that you just bought doesnt work out, take it back or if its past that time then just take it to your work dumpster and give it a beat down (youll feel better, might look crazy, but will feel better) and buy a new one. I get money is tight but the cost of a new printer, i will bet is less than 3wks of coffee and time is very valuable these days, so dont overthink your printer

I like the assets
I've only ever had an HP inkjet at home. If I want high quality prints I'll use a laser printer at Office Max. I spent more for this inkjet despite being told by IT personnel that cheaper inkjets aren't much different than expensive ones as long as the assets are the same. My last inkjet was a lesser (fewer bells and whistles) hp printer and I missed the quality I've had previously. This one has 3 color ink cartridges which I think generates better color prints when I want them. It prints on both sides without me reinserting the first side. I've never had any problems w wifi set-up. I decided not to use the mail-in cartridge plan.

Meets My Needs
I primarily use this printer for printing documents (including two-sided printing) and scanning, and I'm very happy with its performance so far. Setup was reasonably straightforward and I was able to get it up and running as a wireless printer fairly quickly. Print quality is very good and the speed is decent - not lightning fast, but fast enough for my needs. I signed up for the six month automatic ink trial (without providing credit card info) and I received the first delivery of free ink within a few days. I believe the cartridges provided with the printer are just "starter" cartridges that don't contain very much ink so it's probably worthwhile to sign up for the automatic ink trial just to get an initial set of "real" cartridges. Signing up for that free trial locks you in to using only genuine HP ink even if you don't continue with an ink subscription, so be aware of that. I'm OK with that because I don't really print that often and probably won't go through a lot of ink anyway. I also don't intend to pay for an automatic ink subscription once the trial ends, which is why I did not provide my credit card info at sign-up. They try to "steer" you into providing your credit card info during the trial sign-up, but you don't have too (just look for the option to skip that step).

Great Quality
Great little printer. The quality of the print is excellent. Only drawback is that it uses no larger than 8 1/2x11 paper. It’s lightweight. Recommend.

Disappointed
Not happy with purchase. This printer is made of plastic and feels very cheap. I have an OfficeJet 8600 in my office and thought this would be comparable for my craft room. The tray is not user friendly, the paper doesn’t have an actual “compartment” to sit in, it floats in the tray and then I constantly get an error saying the paper tray is empty. The print time is also very slow.

Disappointed
I've owned many HP printers and computers over the last 20 years. This was by far the worst HP product I've ever purchased. The quality of the printer itself was disappointing. The setup process was extremely frustrating. Instructions for setup were minimal. The screen display on the printer was small and very difficult to work with. The HP Smart app was not helpful in getting the wireless feature enabled. I never did find a Setup Wizard feature on the printer display. I did try to get help from HP Support online and a friend with computer experience. After hours of working on setup I decided to return this product.

Do not buy!
Never again will we buy HP products! This is the second HP printer returned because it is soooo difficult to set up and the guidance from HP is pretty much useless!!! Note, we have been buying and using computers and printers since the 80’s. We are not NEW to the computing world but over the years HP product and support has declined!

Unable to connect
This was a gift for our daughter who was exceptional with internet things, she was unable to install, she also contacted tech team who were also unable to connect. My wife who is IT engineer also was not able to connect. RETURNED. Please note: The cust srv employees & especially the manager Oscar were very kind with return. Thank you all for not making this a hard, stressful return.

Not so sure
I could never get the color ink to work. Had to contact HP support. They could not get it to work either. They had me return it to them and they agreed to send me a new one
