Marcy Pro Gym Smith System

I have owned this for seven years and it is high quality. Don’t get the cheaper version I used one vacation and was not impressed. Definitely spend a little extra money you’ll be glad you did. I’m considering making videos about it. It’s easy put together. Hardest part was cable’s.

After a ton of research I settled on the 9010 and it did not disappoint. I was worried about putting it together because of the other reviews but it wasnt a problem at all. It took some time probably 8-10 hours but I spread it over 3 days. Ive used it for several weeks and its everything I could have hoped for.

GREAT MACHINE!!!!

After reading all the reviews I decided to go with this machine, and i'm glad I did. I thought it would be difficult to put together, but it wasn't too hard. Took me about 8hrs. Parts were easy to find and everything was easy to id. After you understand the format of the instruction evrything just flows toghther. Was missing one part. I callled the company and had it delivered to my house in two days. Was able to assemble everthing without the missing part. After using it for about a week very impress. Can go from on station to another effortlessly. Can bench press, arm curl and lat pull downs witout moving weight or adjusting the machine. Safty. Can left, and squat with or without a spotter. So my teenage son can workout by himself. Also can store weights and bar. VERY NICE MACHINE!!

Definitely satisfied with quality and price.

I really like this system coupled with a separate purchase of Olympic weight plates. Even with that extra money I prefer this over the smaller sets with weight stacks on them. Two people assembly would be nice but wasn’t a necessity as I did it myself. Make sure you set your flat head bolts in the holes and use your socket set and a quality hex driver for the hex head bolts and you’ll have a much more enjoyable assembly. My only complaint would be at Marcy the manufacturer, for very poor assembly instructions.

All around nice piece of gear

Purchased online and shipped within one week! One of three boxes arrived damaged, but pieces weren't damaged due to open box. Some pieces were damaged (i.e. chipped paint/chrome) due to movement inside boxes. All pieces were accounted for. It took a day to assemble...read the other reviews - this does take some effort, especially if you don't have a 2nd set of hands. Once assembled, it does everything it claims. I exercise 5 times a week, and it handles most everything i do in the gym. The exceptions are various exercises with dumbbells. It is very sturdy; cannot be toppled or raised. The smith bar is perfect for exercises without a spotter - great safety features. My complaints are few: bar isn't marked for hand spacing, the olympic-sized sleeves are plastic which will eventually wear out as weights are dragged on and off, there aren't bearings on the overhead cable crossover swivel-joints, and doing exercizes with one overhead crossover pulley (like tricep extensions) are akward since they are positioned directly over the legs/feet of the cage. Pros: All the pulleys have bearings, the linear bearings on the smith bar rock, the cage will accept standard olympic bar with adjustable brackets, decent leg exercizes - though the pads could be more dense, it has all the accessories for standing and sitting exersizes, preacher curls are excellent, chest/pec flies are at the correct angle, squats and rows work great, and its very safe...safety catches and locks are a must. It does take floor space, so plan for an area of approx 9' x 9' to have clearance all the way around.

Marcy Smith Machine / Cage System | md-9010G

Great all around Smith Machine. You can do many different exercises and work most major muscle groups with this system. Nice array of bars come included. I found it mostly easy to put together once I had all of the parts unwrapped and laid out with the exception of the cables which were a bear to figure out. The packaging was good and there was no damage with the exception of one minor scrape. I would like it if the weight pegs were far enough apart to accommodate bumper plates. They arent. I would really, really like it if the bench had wheels so it could be rolled out to be able to get to the seated row foot plate and be able to do shoulder shrugs with the Olympic bar. The weight bench is not on wheels. Overall, I wouldnt hesitate to recommend this product to a friend, however, Id warn them to order rubber coated cast iron plates or iron plates as the pegs dont accommodate bumper plates and let them know that the bench is a bear to move and should be on wheels. Good Product, but needs improvements

Good product for the cost, I would recommend it to anyone wanting to get a quality workout at home. However, there are a few down sides. 1) Leg developer does not adjust, so it maybe hard to get comfortable or lift as well as on other machines. 2) PecDec does not adjust, again difficult to use properly. 3) Not enough weight pegs for storage of plates. 4) If you are tall (over 6' as I am) you will not be able to do overhead press on the smithmachine due to clearance. However, you can do them on the front pegs with no problem. Other than that....great machine....buy it and use it.

Assembly was very easy the pulleys should be bearing pulleys the plastic pulleys revolving on a shoulder bolt is a very poor design. The bench looks ok but is lacking several functionality a 45 lb plate gets jammed with the leg extension structure. The installed bar should have a locking feature on the upper structure to allow greater clearance. Please benchmark the bow flex and compare how proper pulleys should work

Overall a quality product! Highly recommend. Was pleasantly surprised how quickly it shipped. Delivery, however, was another story. But that's on the trucking company, not Marcy. It all worked out. As others have said, assembly takes a while and some steps will require two people. There's a YT video that may be helpful. READ all the instructions FIRST, lay out your parts and hardware in an organized fashion, you'll be fine. Overall construction quality is the main reason I didn't give it 5 stars. I had to sand down some welding slag inside the sleeve to get the bar to go through for the Smith Cage. Didn't expect that at this price point. A couple other quick observations after a week of use: For me, the bench is overkill. Very heavy and complex for what it is. I thought I would like the lumbar support for my bad back, but I'm finding it obtrusive. The C clips for attaching the accessories are slow and cumbersome. I'll get some heavy duty carabiners to replace. Pretty satisfied and look forward to many years of use.

Awesome Overall Product

I am extremely pleased with the Marcy Pro Smith Machine. The versatility allows for a full body workout. The assembly time was about 9 hours total with the bench. I recommend leaving all bolts loose until each part is assembled otherwise some parts may not align correctly. All in all, a good product and great value.
