Cow cheek meat used for Latino Barbacoa

Purchased 3 packages at approx $33 each package. Majority (more than 2/3 of each package) was fat. Amount of actual meat was less than the size of one of the packages after all of the fat pieces were removed. This is the second instance of this occuring. About 2 years ago, it was the other way around which is why I had hoped the last time it was an anomaly, but I was wrong as it appears (based on other recent reviews) it's now the norm. Almost seems like the company that packages it (Sam's club doesn't cut and package it) tries to scam the Sam's club custormer on purpose.

The cut was mainly fat, had to trim a large portion off from it. I've had much beeter cuts of meat from other store brands

I got MAYBE 2 little pieces of actual "meat" from this and paid WAY too much for trash. At least 75% of what was in the package went in the garbage

Way too fatty not enough meat. Wouldn’t buy again if you need to feed more than a few people. 5lbs turned into maybe 1 of eatable meat

While I expected some waste due to the nature of the product, I found the amount of fat attached to be excessive

I love cheek meat for my braised dishes, but this was at least 60% fat. At least that much waste. You expect some with cheeks, but these were ridiculous..

My husband seasons this and slow cooks it and then drains the fat. He shreds it and with pico gallo, it makes the best tacos on steamed corn tortillas.

Hard to find cut of meat, because I tried. Great for caldo, barbacoa, and just about any other slow braised recipe. Tried to buy again at the store but wasn’t available.

Love this meat. Usually tender. It’s a lot better than the packaged in store as I find those cuts to be too thick and dry. The cheek meat is good though and at a Good price
