Great Tire

I use these on my daily driver vehicle. This is my second set of these tires. I am glad that I switched from the OEM supplied tires to these Michelins. They are quieter and provide good traction. They made a noticeable improvement in ride quality as compared to the original tires. They lasted 65K miles, which is outstanding for a performance rated tire.

Great Tire Replacing Pilot Sport A/S

I drive a 2006 Mercedes E350 sedan. I had the old Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires on her and, I purchased the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3's, three weeks ago, and have put close to 2,000 miles on them. I got them at the right time because it started to rain here in Northern California, for several days and was able to drive through various wet weather road conditions, from pouring rain, to standing water on the freeway. These tires handled beautifully at speeds of 75 mph on the freeway (I like to drive fast). The contact on the wet road was superb, I had complete control. When the weather dried the stickiness of the tires are outstanding as you go around curves and the braking astounding. I must also add that these are extremely quieter compared to the Pilot Sport A/S, I am happy for that a noise reduction of at least 90% compared to the old tires, very noticeable. I would recommend these for any Mercedes owner.

First impressions

First Impressions. Just purchased 4 Pilot A/S 3's for my '06 Corvette, Immediately noticed the harshness of the ride was gone, how much more quite the interior was. True I only drove 50 miles on county roads and no interstates. Will see how things go in a couple of thousand miles.

Great UHP all-season tire

I just bought my second set of Michelin A/S 3 tires. I am a spirited driver, and these all season tires handle like high performance summer tires. The braking and handling are simply phenomenal. Handling is more important to me than treadwear or comfort, and I must admit that these tires are somewhat noisy. My first set did not last anywhere close to 45,000 miles, but I never really expected them to. If you need 3 season tires and don't want to sacrifice handling/braking, this is a great choice. If you will be doing a lot of driving in snow, you may want to consider other tires or buy a separate set for winter use.

Tires too Noisy

Size: 245/45ZR17, ZR rated Y speed rated. Took the first drive on them, there was a horrendous drone noise over all speeds. Excessive harmonics at 50 – 55mph, and again at 70-75 mph; so loud it’s difficult to hear the radio. Tire needs redesign. Harsh ride due to thicker sidewalls and reinforce bead buildup (creating low tire compliance). Source of noise: Tread shoulder too wide, sipes and grooves on shoulder too wide and rounded, shoulder blocking grooves are normal to the direction of travel leading to tread blocks slapping the pavement. Resolve this noise by angling shoulder grooving between tread blocks. Overall Poor tire due to noise.

Disappointed (good at first, bad at the end)

I am pleased with the performance of the tires. They are about average, if I compare to Vredestein Q-trac all-season (lasted 35K miles) and to Finnish WR-G2 all-season (lasted 38K miles) tires. Both of the above had better traction, wet and dry. However, major disappointment is the tire wear. I replaced the front struts and other front suspension parts before purchasing Michelins. Plus, did 4-wheel alignment. I did rotate them every 4-8K miles. The tires were gone at about 19,000 miles. No performance, bad in wet weather, no traction, other issues. The tire dealership did not recommend the last rotation, b/c they did not want to put the bad set on the rear (to keep still decent set on the rare further). But the tires were flat and loud and done at 19K miles. I do 80/20 highway/town driving. The tires were used from OCT-MAY period (before the Summer season started). Thus, I am disappointed in tire wear mostly, considering 45K miles warranty. Do not buy and avoid for wear problem.

An Exceptional Choice!!!!

I just recently purchased a 2004 BMW 330Ci and the tires are one of the first things I always replace. It's been only a month since the replacement, so not much I can really say except, immediately I noticed a quieter ride, little to no road noise inside the car. The handling is nice but I haven't really stress tested the tires because of the short amount of time I have owned the tires, thus the 4-Star rating, which I'm sure will be upgraded once I've had more time with the tires. I have always preferred Michelin tires for all my cars since 1988 and it seems this tradition will continue.

I have purchased this product many times

I started using Michelin tires in the 1970's when the major retailer I worked for began selling Michielin tires in their auto centre. Since that time, I have been riding on Michelin tires, and have been completely satified with their wear, traction and handling features. Recently, I purchased a set of Michelin Latitude X-ice winter tires. They performed better than I ever expected, which gave me great confidence while driving in all winter conditions. Last month I purchased a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 (XL). I chose these because I could not obtain a Michelin winter tire for my vehicle with 20" rims, and these are rated "all season". My only complaint is that I had to purchase the Pilots in Michigan, as there were no tires available in Ontario. My wife drives a Mini Van and she is riding on Michelin Defender tires. She has noticed a positive difference in the rain/snow handing of her vehicle with the new Michelin tires. In summation, if you have a choice, choose Michelin!

MICHELIN, THE BEST TIRE EVER

I BOUGHT MY FIRST MICHELIN TIRE FOR MY CADILLAC IN 1985 AND HAVE BEEN BUYING THEM SINCE THEN FOR ALL MY VEHICLES. EVEN WHEN I PURCHASE A NEW CAR, I CAN'T WAIT TO WEAR THE ORIGINAL TIRES OUT SO I CAN REPLACE THEM WITH MICHELINS. THE MICHELINS ARE SO MUCH SMOOTHER, QUITER, AND BETTER TRACTION IN WET WEATHER. KEEP DOING WHAT YOU DO TO MAKE A GREAT TIRE EVEN GREATER.

Rubbish tire for all seasons!

These Pilot Sport A/S 3 tires are supposedly "Ultra High Performance All Season" but are barely usable on anything but the nicest of summer days. When it is wet, cold, snowy or any weather condition OTHER than perfectly nice and sunny, these poor tires slide all over the place. They have the worst traction in cold than any tire I've ever owned, and by "cold" I mean anything under Fifty Degrees Fahrenheit. That is truly pathetic. Trying to accelerate onto a freeway is a tricky and DANGEROUS proposition for these UHP tires, the back end of my car slides all over the place and just cannot get a grip. Horrid tires, buy ANYTHING else.
