Just the ticket

As the other reviewers have said this dog house is easy to assemble and the shipping is very reasonable. My dogs seem to have no problem using the door. I tossed a couple of dog treats in the house and they jumped right in. Now I don't feel guilty putting them outside in the cold when I have to leave for work. Their old igloo style dog house kept the wind off of them but was very cold. I can feel the temperature difference when I stick my hand inside this house. I like that this is plastic and can be hosed out. My boy dogs love to mark everything and now I can keep it clean with little effort. I also really like that this is American made and has a great warranty from the company.

great buy

cannot buy the lumber to build a dog house this size for the price of this house. it looks good and took me 20 minutes to take it out of the boxes and put it together, 8 screws is all it takes. i ordered it on sunday and got it on wednesday and cost $6 to ship. it will last a long time

Dog's Best Friend

I bought this unit based on the reviews and on Sam's great price and low shipping cost. The house arrived in 2 boxes. Assembly was a breeze (I was able to put it together alone in about 15 minutes). I do agree with other comments that the screws could be longer, but that wasn't enough of a detriment to downgrade the rating. I put my dog's fleece pad inside an threw in a couple of treats. He went right in and made himself at home. He used to leave his igloo at sunrise, but now he sleeps in so I know he's really comfortable in there. I didn't buy the heating pad but put in a separate wall heating unit. I can reach inside through the door on a cold day and feel feel a big temperature difference from outside so the insulation really is effective.

Doors are flimsy and not well made.

the top half of the door has very fragile plastic nubs that break easily. We are unable to use the door until I repair the broken nubs with something different. This is the only part of the doghouse that I am dissatisfied with. The rest seems quite sturdy, but in our very cold climate, the hinged door is one of the main reasons I purchased 2 of these doghouses.

Best Dog House

I've been having this dog house for 3 months now, and I got to say that this is the best thing I bought for my dog. I've put the house to the test with the recent cold weather and the tons of rain that California is experiencing, and it has been holding up very, very well. I check on my dog every night and everytime his ears are super warm. That gives me peace of mind to know that when I come home very late at night he will stay warm and dry. Totally recommend to all.

Good house

I have four of these -- Loved the first two so much, I ordered 2 more. My only complaint is the those 2 came with no assembly instructions or hardware. I went to site and contacted from website. No response. Went to hardware store and bought what I needed but ?????

Arrived damaged.

Terrible shipping. Zero padding to protect product. Damaged box and plug came out of one panel. Ended up with insulation all over house floor and dumping from shipping box. Have to set up a pick up on unknown date for return and then have an item re-sent on unknown date per customer service. Will not be using sams club anymore.

$$$ Great Deal $$$

The price at Sam's Club was much more reasonable than any where else I could find. I bought this for my German Shepherd and live in Oregon. Because it stays warm inside, the heater would only be for extreme cold. The fan would be good for warmer weather in the summer months but not necessary here. I really like the option to open the triangle windows for ventilation and they screw in very easily right above. There is a video on the ASL web site that shows how to put it together. It was a little trickier than the video showed but I managed. Pictured is Carman with her new dog house.

Mixed results

Well enginered with great features. Love the insulation & drain hole. If rain gets in it just drains out. Assembly is easy but the end panels wouldn't plug together. I eventually got them to push together, but there were some gaps I had to caulk. I blame it on possibly the panels warping. The floor heater worked well for one month then died. Even considering the problems I would still buy it again. There's just nothing out there that compares. Can't put the bottom part of the door on yet because the dog just won't use it with it on. It's a neglected dog down the road from me on a chain that had very little shelter. She's much better off now.

Fine, except...

This came in 2 large boxes, by Fedex, on a Saturday, for $6.16! Gotta love that! When opening the boxes, there is a lot of styrofoam 'pebbles' and dust on everything, which I guess is residue from the insulation. I don't know why it would be all over every piece, there didn't appear to be any leaks. I recommend vacuuming everything carefully before attempting to assemble. This is made in America, and I'm surprised it would go out in this condition. Assembly was quick and very easy, and once together, the house was solid. I pickled it up and moved it across the yard with no flex or hint of any loose pieces. We have 2 sm/med dogs, and they both fit inside this house with room to spare. The hinged door is sort of a good idea, as well as a problem. It's a bit heavy, and doesn't swing very freely, so when the dog enters and tries to pull out, he's caught by the door, and gets spooked. Obviously, this hampers the training process, so I immedaietly removed the bottom section, but I think the damage is done. Happily, the dogs will now go in & out without much coaxing, but I doubt I'll ever be able to put the bottom portion of the door back on, so the house has lost its insulation value. I may have to hang a towel or replace the whole thing with a doggie door flap, which they're familiar with. I will say that the house is okay, but can't say I'm particularly happy with it.
