I've scanned about 300 photos now, in three sessions. I've owned scanners for about 20 years, with my photo scanners being flatbed. One document scanner that feeds similar to this one. This is hands down the best photo scanner I've ever owned. Fast and reliable. I really like the Epson FastFoto Software. Clean copies, often color corrected and I especially like how it prompts you at the beginning for a descriptive name to use for the folder in which it stores batches of scans.VERY helpful.

I have been putting off scanning albums full of printed photos for years. Moving to a condo in the near future forced me to make a move. I was fortunate to pick a photo scanner that makes this chore much easier to accomplish. The speed is just as advertised and the quality of the scanned photos is better than I expected - improves the originals in many cases. Easy to install and intuitive operation allows me to recommend this scanner to anyone who needs to scan a large quantity of photos with reasonable efficiency.

If you are looking for a way to quickly scan pictures then the FF-680W is the absolute best on the market. I've owned other scanners and have tried to make them work with scanning the thousands of prints we have and they all are an absolute waste of time. The 680W can scan one pic per second and offers multiple enhancement options built into the software. It is so fast! Just load the pics (about 50 or so) into the scanner, pick your enhancements you would like to make and then they are scanned in less than a minute. No more postponing scanning the boxes of pictures we have. It is so simple to use and even my kids have been able to help out. Epson has surpassed what I would have expected in a photo scanner. Once the pictures are scanned, you have the option to edit them as you need. You can choose color restoration, red-eye reduction and capture notes on the back of pics on the scan in. Small footprint scanner fits easily on my desk. Also handles most paper sizes for great quality scanning. This wont scan Polaroid pictures or pictures that are think from any backing. Other than that issue with a few pictures. I love this scanner. I have had thousands of pictures to scan for years and didnt want to spend the money. I have scanned about 3/4 of my pictures in one afternoon. I would definitely spend the money on this scanner again!!

I have several Epson scanners. Epson seems to be the only company really trying very hard in this niche of home user, fast scanners. Some of the problems with this technology lie in the actual photos themselves. It is hard to remove them from the binders they are stored in, and they come out curled and with glue on them sometimes. As a result, scanning them is tough. I started off and I was very impressed with the FF-680W scanner, the speeds were phenomenal, the quality was also outstanding and I was very happy with my results. The software is a little clunky and could use some fine tuning to make it less confusing and easier to use. My problem came after a couple hundred photos and I started getting a strange line down the middle of the scans. I'm not sure why, I have been very careful with the photos I have used and none of them have glue or other materials that could cause a buildup. The biggest problem is not really knowing how to fix this problem. If there were a quick fix or a button to push that cleans the area that is causing this, or even a simple instruction booklet that showed what was likely happening and how to access the area that needs cleaning, it wouldn't be so bad. But right now I am kind of in limbo. Not sure how to fix the problem, not wanting to scan a ton of photos that will have a line through them and frustrated that a device that costs a pretty good deal of coin is giving me problems so soon. To Epson, I would say that you need to address this and find solutions. Whether it be some sort of cleaning procedure or a way to keep it from happening in the first place. Maybe a disposable or tear off sheet that you just pull out and tear off when the lines start forming. Maybe software to watch for them so we don't scan a few hundred photos with lines through them, etc... Just needs some attention. I'm torn on the review, if I can get it fixed easily, it is a four star device. If it remains broken, it is a two star or less. I suppose that means I should go with 3 stars now, but I really want it to work again and be four stars.

Purchased because my spouse wanted to send all our photos out to a commercial scanning vendor. I saved hundreds of dollars by buying this scanner and doing it at our leisure. Plus can now loan the scanner to friends and family so they can do the same. Easy setup and operation.

I purchased this scanner in hopes of being able to scan a large number of pictures to covert them digitally. I was not disappointed as the process was fast and the quality was very good. I highly recommend this scanner as it is very easy to use and excellent quality.

I chose this photo scanner because I read the reviews and it sounded like the right one for me. Unfortunately I am unable to connect it to my WiFi because my Netgear (Orbi) router does not separate the 2.4 GHZ from the 5 G. The scanner will only connect to the WiFi using a separate 2.4 band. I learned this after spending hours with Epson, Spectrum, Netgear and paid a systems consultant. I decided to keep the scanner and use it with the USB connection. Very disappointed.

I have only scanned a few photos. I watched all the same reviews you probably did and image quality is excellent. However like many others, connecting this scanner to your existing wireless network is needlessly complicated. WPS was never a great implementation for many and many routers no longer even support. We have Unifi system which does not. I wanted a WiFi connection as tethering with USB cable (USB 2... really?) was not practical due to space issues. So I went through the Epson instructions for network connection, many, many times. I used the network scanning application, pushed WiFi buttons... and the scanner just never appeared in ANY list on my iMac. So frustrating. Save yourself some time and just use your phone to setup. 1. get the phone app. I used Epson FastFoto for iPhone. I assume Android will be same. 2. Take a picture of the label on the back of the scanner so that you can have the password for the 'SSID-Direct' network 3. Follow the instructions on the app. You will need to go to your phone network settings and you will see the network being broadcast by the scanner. Enter your password. 4. Once you have connected to your scanner's broadcast SSID network, you will then see your home network. App will ask you to enter the password for your home network. 5. Once you enter that, your scanner will then connect to your home network. 6. Go to your iMac or PC and run setup again. Now you will see your scanner listed and just click on it. Follow the instructions. You are all set. I would change to 5 star once Epson addresses the network connection and eliminates WPS as a method.

TEH product and its features are outstanding but the documentation supplied and the effort to get started, installed and using it has been way too difficult. I finally got a direct call to support and they got me up and running but you need material supplied in box plus review of online tasks and trouble shooting plus some access to be sure your network etc and their explanations are clear and consistent to make it usable. When working it s a great tool. Just frustrating and many hours to get it setup and working reliably.
