Quiet, high quality Tire

I bought these tires last August, replacing a set of Michelin's on my Civic.   They have decent traction for Minnesota winters, but of course that will gradually decrease as they wear down.   I find them to be very quiet on the roads.  Cornering and breaking for normal driving seems just fine, but I have not stressed them to any degree yet.   Needless to say I was quite pleasantly surprised when I found out that the RT43's are rated at the top for this class of tire on Consumer Reports.

So far so great!

I purchased a set of these tires for my Subaru Outback. Granted I have AWD, these tires dealt with a brutal Pocono winter admirably. Traction is excellent for an all season. Ride comfort is very good, and road noise is minimal. Almost 10k miles of driving, and minimal treadwear. Fantastic tire so far. I couldn't be more pleased.

quiet

I replaced the OEM goodyear tires on my 2014 prius at 42000 miles because they really became very noisy.  They still had good tread.  After much research I chose the Altimax RT43 and am very pleased, they are very quiet and drive well in most conditions.  I recommended them to another prius owner and he is very pleased as well.

Good value for a nice tire

I bought these for my daughter's 2009 Mazda 6. After one month or so it is too early to tell how good they are and will be. They feel good, quiet, and the drive is accurate. I care mostly about safety and I'm not testing them on a race track. The 4 stars are only because I would need to see their long term wear before raising the rating.

Good Decision

Glad i made this choice for my 2011 Camry. Tires are smooth, quiet and I although I have not driven in a NY winter yet, my expectation is that they will perform based on tread pattern  I am extremely happy so far with the AltiMax RT43 and recommend these tires.

Excellent tire!

After reading TONS of reviews of tires for my car, I decided on the General Altimax RT 43 for several reasons:  1: I exclusively used General Tires on my truck, and their tread life was exceptional (up to 80k miles with rotation every 5k miles) 2: Tires are the only part of your car that touches the road. It is worth it to spend a little more for quality tires than get the cheapest you can find. 3: Since we get snow in the northeast, I wanted something with good snow traction without having to get full-blown winter tires.  The General Altimax RT 43's completely fit the bill. They are quiet, responsive, have excellent dry and wet grip, and have unique features to help me monitor their tread life and alignment.

Good Grip In Bad Weather

I needed tires for my compact winter sedan.  I am a mechanical engineer and an SCCA sports-car racer for more than 12 years.  Tires can make a worn-out jalopy feel new again, or a performance car drive like an old washcloth.  Looking for tires for a winter sedan, I studied the tread patterns and associated reviews of many all-season tires.  I did not want to buy full-winter tires as I don't find this area all that snowy.  Some reviews were conducted by magazines, others were customer reviews like this one.  This being a winter sedan to be used where salt is used to generate slush, grip in slushy conditions was a higher priority than ultimate grip in dry conditions.  Also being that roads are poorly maintained where I drive, ride quality was also a higher priority than ultimate grip in dry conditions.  Finally, I decided on the AltiMAX RT43's.  They mounted/balanced well and fuel economy is close to what the vehicle manufacturer advertises.  The grip is quite good in snow/slush/rain.  They are very quiet.  The ride quality is very nice.  And I found them  to be a little squirmy in dry/damp conditions when driving at higher speeds - as expected.  I am very satisfied with this tire and it will be at the top of my list the next time I research tires for this purpose.  I have put about 5,000 winter miles on this set of tires.

I wouldn't buy these again for a Kia Sorento at least.

We had General Grabbers on our Sorento when we purchased it. They were really good tires along of grip in most road conditions etc...  after having these tires on the car for almost 4 years she decided before winter that 4/32 wasn't enough tread to go through PA winter. We decided to purchase General Altimax RT43 because of the success the General Grabbers had. The Altimax 43 did just as good with almost all of the conditions the Grabbers went through. However the Altimax didn't last long at all. About 20k miles and 2.5 years later they need replaced. I actually kept the Grabbers in the shed incase I needed them. I am glad I did because the tires altimax barely have water channels left. I am very disappointed with how long these tires have lasted. Going through the warranty replacement is no fun either as we are supposed to go back to where we bought them and they'd prorate them. That's kind of ridiculous to me.

Quality tire at an affordable price.

Between the two of us we own three vehicles & put on about 70K-80K miles per year. We've had multiple top name brand tires, & try to go with those with high mile tread wear. We've bought Generals before & are very pleased with these. WE ESPECIALLY LIKE THE FULL SIPING ON THE OUTER TREADS that offer better traction in heavy rains. We do run snow tires on our cars in winter, however the siping on these should also help in snow. Other family members run General Altimas as well.

Rides like a more expensive tire

I've driven my Altimax RT43 tires for over 6,000 miles on an old 2004 Honda Civic. These are outstanding tires. They are extremely quiet tires and add little to no noise to the road. On a good road, you won't hear these tires. They are a solid, comfortable ride and handle great on the road, on curves and in turns. On the highway, they ride smooth. In curves and turns, I've never felt like the tires were going to lose the car as I have on some other tires. Traction is excellent in our Texas downpours and I've never lost control of the car while driving in rain. I can't address ice or snow as we had a mild winter this year. These Generals were a huge improvement over my old Bridgestones (which admittedly were not bad tires). Overall, they ride and handle like much more expensive touring tires. I'd definitely buy a set of these again.
