R3 Hardware Installation

We just fired up our new Generac backup generator. I was extremely impressed with the unit and it’s performance. It handled the entire home without any issues or struggles. I would also like to thank R3 Hardware Honesdale Pa and its employees. They have been tremendous throughout the entire process. They are knowledgeable, efficient, professional and extremely helpful and friendly!!! I would also like to add a special mention to Beth for coordination, scheduling and Walter for the installation!!!! They were both amazing and made this a very enjoyable experience!!!

I FINALLY GOT MY GENERAC

It took a few months to have my GENERAC delivered and installed. It looks great and it is quiet. I've had portable generators and I got by with them. But you have to go buy gas for a few days and store it. As luck would have it the power didn't go out. But now NO MORE OF THAT HASSLE. MY GENERAC IS HOOKED TO NATURAL GAS. COOLEST PIECE OF EQUIPMENT I'VE EVER OWNED!

Looks great, and provides security and piece of mind

we live in a rural area, and several times a year have power outages lasting 1-2 weeks, with one outage lasting 3 weeks! My portable generator was ok, but costs $30.00/day for gas, and I had to get up in the middle of the night to fill it up. Not to mention that if I was not home, my wife was unable to start it up, etc. No more! Within a few seconds of power-loss, everything is back to normal...my well, AC, furnace, everything! Awesome.

We love the style and overall design.

Just had the Generac installed this week and now We have the peace of mind when we go on vacation or out of town and the power goes out there is no need to worry about my freezers and refrigerator not operating. Also the sump pump is always ready without shutting down in a storm. The Two gentlemen that did the install were highly trained in installation of these units. they answered every question I could think of. I highly recommend anyone who want peace of mind to get one what an asset to add to our property. Thank you.

Quality Product, Great performace and Reliability

My First Generac was a portable 5500K, which I used for 15 Years, I gave it to my Daughter and Son in law who are still using it when a power outage occurs. I graduated to a Generac 22K whole house with automatic transfer switch. It uses my house natural gas for fuel. Works as advertised, comes on within 8 seconds after loss of utility power, and then without delay or interruption, transfers back to utility power when it is restored. I am notified by email and instant message regardless of where I am located, when my generator is running or may need maintenance. No worries when I am gone for three months in Florida. It is programed to run / exercise each month, and I manually run it with a heavy load, 4 to 6 thousand Watts quarterly ie: oven, air conditioner, refrigerator, lots of lights. This is the best insurance I have ever purchased. Large purchase but great peace of mind. Quality product and great product support.

Smart styling, quiet exercise mode, durable housing.

I recently had the 22KW installed in my home of 2,500 square feet. The exercise mode starts once per week for a period of 5 minutes; we do not hear the generator from inside the residence. The overall appearance blends in extremely well with our brick home. I am highly impressed with the design and overall performance of the unit. In the event of a need for an emergency oil, air filter, or spark plug change, the design allows for easy access by the home owner. All other maintenance can be performed by the dealer. I am a very WELL PLEASED CUSTOMER.

Free Mobile Link

It's not free. Beware of Generac touting the free app. Sure, there is a free part but it's useless, that gives cover for the link to be free. However, you can choose two other levels of the "free mobile link" for a price. In our modern age of WiFi components around our homes, here comes Generac with a monthly/annual fee for WiFi choices. If i had known upfront, it may well have been a deal-breaker. The principal of charging a fee is absurd, I'll have to live with that really nice feature -- but I refuse to pay any fee for WiFi related links, so that Generac feature won't be utilized. That's kin to using your laptop on your own WiFi for a monthly fee around the house. I should charge Generac for using part of my WIFI bandwidth, which they're probably using to monitor my unit. Perhaps i'll disable Generac from my WiFi. Not happy I wasn't told prior to purchase.

Disappointed

After about 14 years or so, our 17KW crapped out. In simple terms, the stator self-destructed. Major, major costly repair. The local dealership that originally installed this 17KW quoted me a price to replace the generator. 17KW was no longer available, so they quoted me on the next size up. I believe it was on a 18 or 20KW. The price they quoted me was around $8,500.00. That was more than the original cost of the 17KW which included the transfer box(which would not need to be replaced) and connection to the propane tank. I searched around for another dealership and found one that had a 22KW in stock for $5,250.00. Installation included. So that’s what I went with. That was installed 6/20/18. Here it is September of 2021 and the generator failed. My mistake was to call in the same people who sold/installed the 17KW. They diagnosed it the next day, determined that the control board need to be replaced, however, since they did not install/replace the 22KW, they would not work on it. Here’s the summary. When I purchased the 22KW it came with a 5 year warranty, but after the first 3 years, the only things left on the warranty are the engine and alternator. I don’t care one way or the other. I just wanted it fixed. Come to find out Generac dealers/service companies are 3rd party. They can set their own guidelines/policies. No commitment or jurisdiction under Generac. So here’s where I stand. The dealership that sold me the 22KW will be here tomorrow. My advice to any potential buyers is beware. Not all Generac service companies appear to be equal. If they have internal policies that prevent them from servicing your generator, you may find yourself in a compromising situation. Don’t get me wrong. As long as it works, Generac stand-by generators are wonderful, but in MHO, if a company such as Generac certifies installation/ service companies, they should also be able to control service policies over these 3rd party companies.

Just installed to handle expected PG&E outages

We have installed this unit in anticipation of upcoming PG&E blackout in CA this summer. A recent email from PG&E confirmed their plans to shut power off to large areas for up to 5 days. We have a well and would be out of water in no time if not for this generator. We have not had to use it yet but the install is very clean and the unity connected to our wifi so I will be notified when it comes on.
