Excellent!! The unit came sooner than expected, thank you Walmart.
The generator came nicely packed, was easy to put the wheels on, and, once everything was set, it fired right up. I have faith in Westinghouse.
My area is looking at an icing event, Im excited I have backup for power.

- 5 out of 5 stars review7/21/2021Product arrived in good condition albeit a few days later than expected. Instructions were clear and assembly (filling crankcase with supplied oil, attaching wheels and rubber feet) was easy. After adding gasoline product started on 2nd pull, ran well (and relatively quietly), and generated electricity on both 5-20R 120V circuits tested. (Didn't test the L14-30R 120/240V or 120V TT-30R outlets yet). Unit is relatively light weight for this size generator and with attached handle and wheels is easy to move and to store.
Nice and light weight
waldo999Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review12/28/2020This review is based on 2 months of ownership and several hours of use. In general, I think this generator is an incredible value. It arrived with slight damage, a minor scratch and dent in the frame. I don't care about that because I think the packaging was adequate and, while I take care of my gear, I don't baby it. Generators get used, and that sort of minor damage is inconsequential to me. Slightly more consequential is that it arrived with with one of the clips for a the air filter bent. I haven't bent it back or replaced it yet because the other clip does an adequate job of keeping to cover on the air filter. This issue is a bigger deal than the dent in the frame, but still not something I'm terribly concerned about. Ie., not worth...
great value
JRobOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review7/19/2024I purchased after Hurricane Beryl to be prepared for next one. I like the features like electric start, CO monitor, easy to read fuel gauge and 11 hour run time. This will power my workshop including frig, freezer, small window unit and a light. I ordered the 9500W for my house to power essentals.
Nice Features and not too heavy
Ran73961Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review5/16/2020Just bought this and was glad I got this one,a little over 100lbs.First generator I can lift.great value with electric start and great runtime .It had a issue from transport, that Westinghouse saw to the first day out of box. Hope i never use it ,but know that won't be the case in Fl.
Almost half the weight!
FL.DudeOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review6/4/2020Purchased to use as back-up power during hurricane season and our frequent power outages. This is the perfect size for powering what we need to operate to get through a power outage and be comfortable. Its compatable with our transfer switch making life easy
perfect for back-up power
jw3037Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review9/8/2022This is a powerful generator that can run all the home appliances, just not a furnace or whole house air conditioner. I am able to run the refrigerator, computer (and modem and router) and tv all at the same time. The best thing about the WGen model is it is very user friendly, the operation is self explanatory and logically set up.
User Friendly
tim32455Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/11/2020Generator came well packaged. No dents, dings or scratches anywhere on it. Wheels were simple to install. Filled with oil and gas and it fired right up. Normal fumes as with anything for the first little bit of running, paint burning off of areas that shouldn't have paint. All very normal. Ran it through the 1 hr break in and then 5 hours of various loads as directions dictated, Just went though a ice storm with a smaller one, actually looking forward to the next outage to see how it performs powering house though generator cut over switch. All and all extremely pleased with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking for this size of generator.
Very pleased with purchase!
EPP64Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review1/22/2024I've been wanting a Westinghouse for years, mostly because of the electric start. Hubby said no because we already had a generator, and he "thought" Westinghouse ones were loud. My old one puked because it was 35 below so I got what I wanted, this Westinghouse, which starts up as easy as pushing a button and is actually quieter than my previous (H) generator which was a pull start and 30 years old. I love this Westinghouse, it will run all my necessary stuff...quietly! Having it on wheels is a giant plus for my old body too.
Quiet and EASY start!
DyDyOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 4 out of 5 stars review4/10/2021We had been looking for a generator since the last storm caused a power outage of 6 days. Checked a number of generators and this had the best features for the cost. After I unboxed, wheel assembly was easy, (and nice to see ball bearing in the wheels!) filled with oil as specified and it started right up! Happy with the product so far
Power when needed
Bill106Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review12/8/2020Just received the 5300 with electric start, the quick setup instructions very easy to follow, includes everything -wheels, tool kit, oil and even a funnel ! Gassed it up - pushed the electric start ...... fired right up, average operating sound for a generator, ran smoothly, no leaks or drips ! Gave it a quick test with two 1875w hair dryers ..... no problem ! The WGen replaces a 3500w manual start , I can get spoiled with this electric start ! And like with anyone who buys a home generator "I hope I never use it" but in this New Normal , it will be getting it's use !
So Far, So Good
Allen57Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review7/3/2023We recently lost power for a couple of days and a friend let us borrow a generator to save our cold stuff. Loading and unloading the generator was tough and I said then that I was buying one when the outage was over. After a good bit of research, I chose this model for the power I needed, brand and price.
Peace of mind!
Russ2023Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review12/5/2020This generator is perfect for us. Good backup for our little house when we lose power. Relatively low fuel consumption yet meets our needs perfectly. Easy to assemble and started on the first try no problem. I read reviews saying they had problems. Just take five minutes and read the instructions. After adding oil and gas had it running in 30 seconds.
Just what we needed!
RemsOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review11/15/2020Assembly was quick. Pull-start worked on first attempt. Runs more quietly than any generator I have had. Doesn't strain under load. Will hopefully provide us with back-up power for many years to come. Great Product! (New England power outages are frequent. This summer we were without power for 9 days after Tropical Storm Isaias.)
Supereasy set-up and start-up
chrisCTOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 4 out of 5 stars review2/7/2021This thing is a beast right out of the box! Very sturdy and just feels like it has great quality. Started it up and it's not as loud as I thought my would be, and so far the power is pretty consistent on a 25% load. Assembly was a breeze! Not bad so far!
Beast right out of the box!
DtreatOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review4/18/2021I've had the unit six weeks. It assembled as expected. It started right up, first time and every time since. I ran it for the prescribed break-in period, then again 3-4 weeks later. We had not had a power outage in that time. That will be the true test. I'm glad I spent the extra money getting a electric start model, as I was not successful in starting it with the pull rope. (I imagine a younger person could pull that rope faster, and therefore get it going that way.) I am quite happy with my investment in keeping the basement dry!
Happy, but untested
dtb516Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review12/26/2020I just got hit by a 14-hour power outage. That was my first time putting the generator to test. It performed very well. I have it hooked to a 6-circuit panel running 2 furnaces, my kitchen including all appliances, my family room and 2 bedrooms. I would definitely recommend it.
Easy to Use
AlexBOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review1/10/2024I caught this generator on sale right after the New Year. I had been meaning to get one for some time but held off. Luckily I bought this when I did because it came in two days prior to a major storm that knocked out our power for 12 hours. I put this baby to use right away! Worked great powering our fridge and some entertainment items, with plenty of wattage left over if we needed to plug anything else in. I am so glad I bought this when I did!!! It was super easy to set up (minus some oil funnel issues I had at the start but squared it away quickly) and worked well throughout the outage, providing reliable power where it was needed.
Great Generator Received Just in Time!
Salty1_1983Originally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review5/14/2022Everything needed was included in the box. In less than 30 minutes I had the generator unpacked, wheels and feet installed, oil filled (supplied), filled with fuel and had it purring away. I let it run for about 15 minutes before I put it underload for the very first time. I connected our RV to the 30 amp outlet (TT-30R 120V 30A) and powered up the all the RV lights, fridge, electric water heater etc and then the air-conditioner and it worked great. I could hardly hear the generator once the AC was running. I went outside and was very happy with the noise level emitted by generator with basically everything electrical in the RV powered up and the AC running on max. It was much lighter than I expected and very easy to move about, however I w...
Great Generator for RV and Emergency Backup
JamieJOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review12/10/2020The generator is compact, well designed and reasonably easy to move around. Assembly was a snap as the unit can be rolled over (with no oil, etc.) on surrounding protective bars allowing wheel kit installation. Test run proved excellent. Bring on the next power failure!
First Generator
DaughterOriginally posted onwestinghouse.com - 5 out of 5 stars review12/14/2020We bought this to power the house. Living in the woods we do lose power and need to work from home and keep the fridge and freezer running. This generator was easy to use and quiet enough to run without all the noise. With the wheels we are able to move around without a second person. We are buying another for a family member.
Great Features
