I bought this generator bc we lost power for over 5 days in the Texas heat. I did a little bit of research before buying and thought by getting a dual fuel I would save myself some money on the price of gas. Well I was wrong 😕. Turned on my generator and set it to propane. I was running a window unit, a fridge, and a deep freeze. My borrowed generator that is the black max 3600 will run for around 10 hours powering the same items on only 2 gal of gas. Anyhow in only like 7-9 hours my propane bottle was completely empty. So that day I ended up spending 18.00 for only 7-9 hours. Not a good deal. I need to do more research and find out if this 1 does better on gas or the propane bc I know it doesn't do so well on the propane.

I purchased this unit about a month ago and could not be happier. It starts very easy and runs smooth. I especially like the handle for moving the unit as it is sturdy and extends to the right length. I highly recommend purchasing this generator as it is a great value and is very high quality.

A GREAT value and product for a minimal cost. I live in a 3 story home containing over 4,000 sq. ft. of living area with 2 full kitchens. My home has multiple gas fireplaces with baseboard electrical heat for “backup”. As such, this generator unit has the running power to supply power to my entire homes 120 volt outlets. Therefore I/we can use EVERY necessary small appliance, lighting, TV, cell phone, etc. and refrigerator without any interruption to our normal lifestyle. The generator was SO SIMPLE & EASY to use right out of the box. It took less than 20 minutes to have power after connection and adding of oil & gasoline. The operational manual proved is so well written that a 9 year old could understand. The remote cranking fob is a GREAT PLUS & worked PERFECTLY. AT 77 years old & as a former NASA NERD from the 1960's Apollo moon mission, I KNOW QUALITY & WORKMANSHIP. Simply put; this is an incredible product for the quality and cost. Before purchasing, As my home is located at a mile high location on Beech Mountain NC, it was critically important to me that I purchased a quality product that I could depend on when electrical power was lost. Therefore, I reviewed, evaluated & compared EVERY comparable generator online before purchasing & found no other brands that came close in ANY RESPECT to this unit. I/WE LOVE IT!!!!!😊😊😊😊👍👍👍👍

Bought my second westinghouse generator over a month ago and it still exceeds my expectations , my first one still running like a champ and I bought a second one for my other house which had a black out last week. Assembled it in less then 10 min added my oil n gas and provided me with electricity throughout the night... If u looking for a generator westinghouse is the way to go!!!

This generator was the highest power generator that I could find in this price range -- the best bang for your buck. It not only comes with a handle and wheels, is easy to operate, and has a battery for electric start (in addition to the manual start option).

I am sooo excited about this Westinghouse WGEN5300V generator purchase. I bought a home here in Florida a few years back and fortunately there have been no serious hurricanes (power outages). If and when they come and I am ready! This generator is a perfect size for mobility by a mere female. I hope I never have to use it!

We have wanted a new generator for a long time. My husband wanted one with an electric start. Our old one is 20 years old, and hard to start. In case of emergency, we needed a new, easy start one. This Westinghouse model fits our needs. Great price and gives us peace of mind in case we ever need it. Also, it is a compact unit; it doesn't take up a lot of space. My husband really likes the fold-down handle. Easy assembly putting on the wheels.

Got this and noticed that the box was damaged. Opened it up, and the two silica packs had burst open and there were silica balls embedded throughout the cardboard box. There were dings in the frame, and the cover of the alternator was dinged. Also the battery box was bent so the battery doesn't sit flush. It's a generator, not a beauty pageant contestant, so as long as it works no big issue. Getting the wheels and feet on was pretty easy. I try to pull the spark plug out with the wrench attached, so that could begin the break in process and the plug is not moving! Eventually the plug ends up getting stuck into the wrench, because The plug is in so tight, and the wrench is so cheap that it actually embeds itself into the sides of the wrench as the wrench twisted around it. I have to get the standard wrench that you see in hardware stores, and its not moving it as well. In fact the handle on that wrench actually bends, from trying to turn it. Eventually I get the plug out (probably after the oil penetrant I sprayed soaked through) and the plug is wedged into the wrench, So I have to beat that out from the wrench and chip a bit of the non sparking end in the process. But now that the plug is out, i can begin the break in process. Once I finally get everything oiled up & fueled up. It starts very easily. Both on the electric start and the pull start. And seemed to run with no problems, and at a decent noise level, even with a load on it. So while I spent way too much time, fighting with a spark plug, and on principle, I'd like to have it show up to my house ding free, at the end of the day it seems to do its job. Also it is a fairly manageable weight for the power that it can put out.

I originally purchased a WGen3600 but discovered belatedly it could not connect directly to my circuit panel to provide backup house power because the little guy didn't put out 240 volts. My bad for not checking specs more closely when comparing different sizes and makes. So my new purchase is the WGen5300 that does put out 240v. I got another Westinghouse this time, rather than a competitor of comparable size, because I really like the small WGen. Like that one, the larger brother is rugged, easy to set up and operate. I especially like the electric start feature. Now, my power will never go out again.

Easy to assemble and start. Ran smoothly during the engine break in period. Arrived without damage! Ordered another brand and 2 units were damaged during shipping due to poor packaging. The Westinghouse unit had better packaging and was made with more solid materials than the competing brand.
