I received my new WGen5300s Westinghouse generator this week. After installing the feet and wheels, adding oil and gas, and connecting the battery, it started on the first attempt. After some electrical work on my home was completed, this generator powered my entire home. This will be helpful for us since we live in a rural community with lots of trees. The last storm we had, our power was off for almost a whole day. We lost most of the food in our refrigerator. This generator will pay for itself if we have several outages. The directions are very well written and helpful.

Picked up this generator 1.5 weeks ago and did the motor break in process today. It’s a good looking generator. Ran three one hour break-in segments, and the generator started easily on the first pull each time. Ran under partial load the last hour, and the generator handled this easily too. Ran the generator in the front yard in the afternoon, and no one complained of noise which is good. I like the long plastic funnel to add oil; it’s very helpful to have this item. One star deducted for position of oil drain, as oil runs onto the frame and spills under unit instead of going straight into a container to catch the oil. This was a mess. Will devise an oil diverter the next time I change the oil.

I bought this after having several power outages. It's perfect to keep the refrigerator and freezer running as well as a fan and lamp. I like that it has a dual fuel option. Easy to assemble and though heavy the wheels and transport handle make it easy to move around.

I recently purchased this generator after a power outage. It arrived promptly and is sturdy as well as attractive. The pull start is quite manageable. Moving it about is made easy by means of large wheels and a sturdy padded handle. The operators manual is clear and quite articulate.

ONE SUGGESTION; MOVE THE CROSS MEMBER 1" TOWARD THE END OR MORE SO OIL DOES NOT RUN DIRECTLY ONTO THE FRAME WHEN OIL IS CHANGED. IT IS INTENDED TO BE USED FOR POWER OUTAGES TO RUN LIGHTS, HEAT, AND WATER PUMP. MAY BE USED OCCASIONALLY FOR CAMPING. ATTRACTIVE GENERATOR CONTROL PANEL IS NICELY LAID OUT. HANDLE FOR MOVING IT AROUND IS A LITTLE OVER KNEE HIGH. GOOD LITTLE LIGHT WEIGHT MACHINE. I'LL RECOMMEND IT TO PEOPLE.

It's difficult to find a generator with a lot of amps that's light. I can toss this thing around like a baby toy. At 107 pounds this is easy to take in and out of the truck. I don't know how they made it so light with 44 amps @ 120volts. I got the one with the electric start also. Maybe that adds a half pound. Started right up. Comes with oil and a funnel.

As a female who is not very good at mechanical stuff, I would say this is fairly straightforward and so far so good. Assembly was easy although the model is hard to move until you get the wheels on. Adding oil is easy enough although the place to add the oil is kind of recessed and you will have to be careful to not strip the threads on the plastic funnel. Start up with the electric start was easy. The generator is loud but I believe they all are. I haven't used it yet in an actual power outage but this should have plenty of wattage to handle my frig, a few lights and my microwave. I will probably have to turn off the electric water heater but that 's okay. I do like that the box gives you the approx. wattage for different appliances. We have frequent power outages so I am excited to use this product.

Box came a little banged up but no damage to the generator is apparent. The biggest disappointment was the manual and quick start guide were missing. I know I can get the manual online but that's not the point. I had to go online to view the manual to see how to install the wheels and stands and add the oil and since I paid for the manual it should be included. A little more quality control would resolved this issue.

You best open up the box before buying this because mine came with a broken air filter housing and bent muffler grill cover. Also the container of oil got punctured and was all over the inside of the box. Price was ok, that’s why I bought it, but I didn’t expect so many problems. Warranty department promised me that they would ship out the replacement parts soon, but who knows when that is? I have 30 days to return it if not satisfied, so I’ll give it till then. I’ll update after I get parts and see if it starts

I bought this Gen 5300 a week ago. I already own a Gen 3600 I bought 2 years ago. Best and most dependable I ever had. Both of these generators always start the first pull of the recoil. The price of both was reasonable and competitive. I would recommend Westinghouse gens to any one. I love that Westinghouse pretexts their hens
