I thought these were going to be a gimmick then a nice sale came across my screen and i grabbed one. Boy was I wrong! Being able to play my pc games on the go was a game changer for me. I loved this one so much i wanted the Ally X. My brother had already used this one and wanted to buy it as soon as I would let go of it lol. If anyone’s really reading through these reviews and comes across this one, if you come across one of these for a good price don’t be shy about them. I ended up buying an Ally X and it is amazing. If you are on a budget or don’t want to pay out for the X these are still awesome.

This device checked off all the boxes for a handheld PC. Its able to play console games (via remote play or the console cloud apps), it can play PC games (via Steam or Windows installers), while maintaining the Windows environment. The battery life is ok - as long as you remember this is a PC, and not like your cell phone. Basically if you are going to play a game, its best to have it plugged in. The fan noise is minimal and the graphics are great. It doesn't run as hot as one might expect, but I do take precautions for the SD card - and make sure if I am storing things on the cards, that I have good backups somewhere else too. Overall - I wasn't going to get the SteamDeck, and the Lenovo Handheld is too big. This little PC was worth the price.

This is a new for me, I'm coming from Xbox. I almost returned this thing because of the form factor. My hands were cramping from trying to hold it. It just felt weird. I love it now. I'm playing older games now and just enjoying being a gamer again. There are a few things I would change about it. But for now, I'll give it a 9 out of 10.

What a great handheld gaming console. The screen is just beautiful, fits nicely in your hands and plays most games flawlessly. I would say for 90% of gamers out there the Asus Rod Extreme would fit their wants and needs. I think once the SD card issue gets resolved it will be even better.

I love this thing! It’s the best portable option out there. The steam deck does not have windows so you have to do a lot of work arounds to get the anticheat software installed that a lot of today’s popular games require. The PS Portal doesn’t work on hotel wifi requiring browser checkin. This thing works everywhere and truly feels like having a portable pc when you travel!

I got the non extreme unit. After having it for 2 weeks, I’m one happy customer. After spending a couple of hours setting up and updating as well downloading the games I intended on playing on the device (Apex, L4D2, Dead Space Remake), I’m very surprised with the performance. Thank you ASUS for making such a beast of a device. Looking forward to seeing where this handheld is going.

this has replaced my work computer as well as gives me something to play my video games on while im away from home. I highly recommend this over any other handhelds. my friend that recommended it to me says he had 3 different handhelds, and he was disappointed in the other two, and this one hasnt let him down. he says it's like if a computer, steamdeck, and xbox had a baby, and i agree.

Great price for a small high performance gaming PC handheld. Built solid with high quality and functions well on most games. Beats all the competition, even with the lowest model. A little sluggish from the startup to all the updates finishing but much improved afterward. Still better than I expected.

Sd card reader stopped working after 12 hours of use

Awesome product bought this not knowing for sure what to expect, and I am very pleased.
