- 2 out of 5 stars review4/19/2026Sad imitation of what it used to be. I used to love this cake. They’ve destroyed this cake to cut corners. The icing is so thin and they replaced the white coconut icing inside the cake with the thinnest layer of some kind of goo. The cake used to be really tall and now the layers are really thin and the cake has shrunk considerably. It’s moist but tastes like chemicals now. The weight has changed drastically too. Why do these companies do this? This cake used to be incredible and now it’s chemicals disguised as cake.

But … not even close to what they were. 3 layers not 6, not a site of coconut custard, no icing between layers, not much coconut on the outside. I took a chance and ordered to be delivered or I would have passed. The cake itself is plain white cake, the frosting is more of a thick whipped cream type. Very little flavor. So extremely disappointed.SHARON

I love it as is, with chocolate sauce, orange sherbet, chocolate ice dream... It is a huge cake do I cut in half and freeze. I also refrigerate, but cut a serving and let set out for a few minutes to mellow it out. However you slice it, it is delicious.

It does need more coconut flakes on the top %26 sides. It needs more frosting %26 coconut flakes in between layers. It is not a 6 layer cake…just a 3 layer. I would love to see you sell it year around. It's a great option for a birthday cake. You could even make it onto a birthday sheet cake…yummy.

If you love coconut you need this cake in your life. I'm going to get another one and freeze it in individual servings like I did with this one. Seriously, whoever came up with this recipe deserves an award.

I wish Sam's club had it year round but for sure at Christmas time as well. With the cocunut frosting (looking like snow) it could be decorated by the customer's for Christmas parties, dinners etc.

We've tried at Sam's. Usually, they cakes are 4-5 stars for us. This one was a total miss. No flavor in the actual cake. All the flavor is in the frosting, which is too sweet for everyone's taste in our household anyway. It's missing some fruits, nuts or something.

She cut a piece for everyone and I took a bite. My brain could not process what was going on, it was soooooo bitter, the artificial coconut flavor was either too much or rotten or someone was trying to poison us but it was terrible …. Inedible! I told her to take it back but she refused so I'm here to tell you don't buy this cheap cake that lady oks great but tastes like poison. So bitter so aweful .
