We bought this less than a year ago. We used it for 1 month last year and 2 months this year. We limit use of AC to only days we must have it on and when we are home. After 3 months of use it died on us during the hottest week this year! Now we're stuck with a $500 piece of crap.

When I turn it on the motor is so loud and some sort of weird noise is coming from the inside. Also, while it does cool it's just not enough. The unit is fairly large and it should be able to cool a room quickly but instead it cools for a while and then warm air starts coming out. Very upset with this purchase!

Unit was dropped and damaged by delivery driver. Contacted customer service and a replacement was sent to me. The replacement was 7000 BTUs smaller than my original purchase and there was no adjustment made in the price difference. Replacement unit was delivered and sat on its side in my yard near the front porch. The frame on the replacement unit was severely damaged. Not sure how either would have performed. Very disappointed in the replacement size and the quality of my purchase once I received both. Requested my money back

This replaced a 12,000 BTU LG unit, and the difference in cooling ability is significant. My recommendation is DON'T order this for Home Delivery. The first time I ordered, I selected home delivery because it would arrive faster. It's a very large box AND very heavy, so, my son actually watched Fedex drop it twice -- and they had two people on the truck. When we opened the box, it was significantly damaged. Good news, it was easy to take to Walmart for return, but since I had to return it and re-order, the two-day home delivery option wasn't faster. We re-ordered for store pickup, and inspected in the store prior to loading in the car. Perfect condition. It's very heavy and very large, but it fit in the back of a Ford Escape, with the rear seats flat. Based on other reviews, we plugged it in and connected the front panel to test it prior to installing. The directions recommend two people install, and I had my two 20+ sons do the install. They had no issues. Tip: Install directions were actually helpful in removing the old model that stopped working -- we just did the same directions in reverse. Some people noted it is very noisy or had strange banging noises. We haven't experienced that, however, it is a little noisy as it starts blowing, until it gains full speed, which takes a few seconds. Before you buy: Measure your window carefully -- for us, the window had to be fully opened for this unit, no need to use the window locking brackets, so the issue is more vertical clearance, not width.

My next door neighbor bought a Whirlpool, and I went for the LG, so we will compare over the next few years. I installed the unit in a sliding window which requires a lot more work, but the job got done in a few days. I was replacing a 12000 btu portable that did the job in my 800 sq.ft. living room, dinning room, kitchen area if the outside heat was below 100; not bad for a unit that is for 400 sq.ft. Obviously, the 15000 btu window unit just blows the portable away. The LG is on energy saver, and keeps the area in the mid seventies when it is 110 outside (I live in Arizona). I slide the unit out of the frame myself, and it was easy. The only slight issue once the unit was installed is that the front plastic grill is a little off, but does fit in the end.

So far so good. This item is working better than the Haier I bought and had to return. It stopped working after 9 days.

I'm freezing to death in this house, wife likes it cold...well, she got it COLD! Can't remember the last time one worked this well. I tell ya what, i'm more than satisfied with this machine. LG means quality...highly recommend.
