2500W Dual Fuel Inverter Generator

Start-up on propane was much easier then some other reviews. Runs quiet. CO Shield did shutoff generator during the 5 hour break in period in open backyard. Spark plug access door opening is small, which makes it difficult to pull off the spark plug boot.

Overlanding with style

Receives my Champion 2500W Dual fuel generator today as a gift. Part number (201183). Initial impressions are good. We'll packagedand included everything you need to start using it. Added the 500ml of pre measured oil that Champion included in the box and connected to my 20 lb propane tank. Primed it by pulling starter rope while on choke 3-5 times and it started right away after switching the knob from chole to propane and pulling one more time. Going through the break in procedure right now. I will be using this generator at different elevations in Colorado so I have requested the high altitude jets. Also registered it for warranty. I am very happy with this unit. It's well built, doesn't skip a beat and will be providing me with the creature comforts I need while overlanding around the US. Thanks Champion!

Don’t Buy A Honda

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Don’t waste your precious money on a Honda! Bought two of the 201183 inverter generators to use in parallel with my travel trailer. They work like a charm! I love how quiet they are and the dual fuel option. Stop looking at other generators reviews and buy this!

CO detection while using parallel kit

I bought (2) 2500 watt, dual fuel generators with the parallel kit. Break in period was straight forward. I planned to use them in parallel with a camper because they are lighter to carry, fit better in my tow vehicle and offer a degree of redundancy. Mine started and ran great (on both fuel types). When I connected them together, the CO detection would shut one down after an hour or so. No wind this day, but units were oriented with exhaust away from each other and distanced as far as the parallel kit would allow. My question is, is there an option for longer parallel kit connections? Do I need to run a fan to disperse CO while running in parallel? Should the parallel kit only be purchased with models not containing CO detection?

Be Prepared

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We've had power shut down at home multiple times this winter already. We've only successfully achieved the "break-in" of the unit but so far, could not be happier. The unit idles when the load is low and ramps up to produce the needed power as demand increases. It's relatively quiet, especially at lower rpms. Using propane, it did take some effort to get it started. Fortunately, we had read other reviews and anticipated it could take patience. Once started, we've had no problems. We feel so much better prepared for our now crazy weather and the impacts it's sure to have on our grid.

So far so good!

I use this with LP only for travel safety and cleanliness. So far so good! We have a tiny travel trailer and just need to run a space heater when we go to bed and get up to get dressed, charge our power pack, etc., so this generator is more than sufficient. Glad we have it as backup for home when the power goes out too--this will keep us running. The user manual could use some improvement in terms of more explanation that doesn't require previous expertise in electrical matters. Had to Google some things to understand; the user manual for a consumer-grade product like this shouldn't require this much technical background. Not dumb, just not an electrician.

Well worth the wait

Did a ton of research for a backup to charge my solar generators due to not having much sunlight here consistently in Pennsylvania. This model hits all of the specs that I need to keep my solar batteries charged when we have many cloudy days here. After a slight weather delay in shipping, I just opened it up and am ready for my break in period. Will also use synthetic oil after the break in. Everything was included, bring on the bad weather!

Money well spent

Great little generator. We had a power outage that lasted 4 days last summer. This generator kept us from losing all of our frozen and refrigerated food. It even powered our small window AC unit at night to enable to stay relatively cool while we slept. I recently bought a second one as a backup.

HAPPY SO FAR

After filling it with oil and following the process it would not start on propane but after running it a few hours with gas it fired right up with the propane, I am running 2 new full size side by side Frigidaire refrigerators and they only draw total of 1.2 amps, The voltage is 124 volts at the end of a 30 ft. 12 gouge cord. The generator runs very smoothly and quiet. I cannot hear it from 50 feet away.

I would buy CHAMPION again! Oh I did!!

I have a Class B RV. This Generator runs everything, AC, Microwave, and the coffee pot with no problem! Not all at the same time of course. Not positive what size the AC is I'm guessing 12000 or 13000 BTU but it is no problem for this generator it just purrs along. If it has a soft start installed I'm not the one that did the work. The reason I bought this generator is because I have the Champion 200988 4500 Watt Dual Fuel for my class A and it runs flawlessly. Don't mess with perfection so I bought the 201183.
