Aloha

I love Tully's and have tried all of their available roasts. I am a dark roast type of coffee lover, but prefer medium roasts occasionally. This Hawaiian blend is definitely different, since it has a very fragrant and airy aroma. It is a unique taste at first, but is more on the watery, super-light roast side once you sip on.

Very tasty but doesn't seem "bold"

I like my coffee bold. When most people use 10 scoops for a pot I'll use 12 or more. I generally don't go for dark roasts, especially in pods, because they just taste burned rather than just having a stronger coffee flavor which I prefer. When using Keurig k-cups and regular medium roast coffee I generally opt for the smallest cup size so the coffee tastes bolder. I was happy to see Tully extra bold Hawaiian blend which apparently has more coffee in the pod. The coffee actually tastes very good even on the 8-oz setting, good full flavor, but honestly, to me it just tastes like what a good medium roast coffee *should* taste like. Definitely a good, enjoyable cup and better than many other medium roast pods I have tried, but it still doesn't seem bold enough for me ... I'd like a bit more coffee.

"Extra Bold" it is not

Tully's Hawaiian is "Run of the mill" for a Medium roast coffee. If one wants "Extra Bold" I'd recommend Barista Prima ITALIAN ROAST ! ; it's a Dark Roast that is not bitter (like some French Roasts can sometimes be); we enjoy the the Decaf frequently; it's our absolute favorite K-cup variety.

fabulous coffee - my favorite K-cup

Oh man, this coffee is awesome. It has a dark, bold flavor that is powerful but not overpowering. It is great for a mid-morning pick me up. It is delicious black (my personal coffee preference) but I especially enjoy it with a heaping spoonful of turbinado cane sugar to complete that "tropical" taste. I keep a good stock of this coffee on hand at all times.

"bold and delicious"

This coffee is wonderful. I enjoy it so much. It needs no help from cream or sweetener to balance it and improve its taste. Was surprised since it is described as "bold" and I usually find those coffees too strong for my taste. Have had nothing but favorable comments from friends who have tried it.

No comparison to Kona Coffee

Tully’s used to make a 100% Kona coffee and it was great! A bad crop one year and they discontinued it. Others still make it; Tully’s substitutes this forever which is a huge disappointment in comparison. It is just ok. Gone is the distinct Kona taste and strength! Ask yourself, how can anything with only 10% be authentic to the true 100% Kona. It can’t. So, they have to charge $5 more per box to make it, then good. For those who desire Kona coffee, we are willing to pay. To call this “Hawaiian” is a huge stretch when it is 90% regular coffee! It taste like regular coffee from the local cafe. Nothing special; just ok.

Something has changed....

I have been purchasing this brand and specifically this blend for a few years now. It has been the primary staple in my house and at work, where myself and many others pitch in to buy it for our Kurig. The last batch I purchased in the big box, i felt seemed watery and not as bold as it had been. I felt it was just myself, but others also started to say the same thing. We felt as though when we were originally using the standard brew setting before, we were all now using the smaller setting to get the same flavor profile. It had become less. Feeling this was a one off batch (new white plastic cups), I purchased another box for home. Same flavor profile - weaker and less bold. Something has changed the flavor profile. Needless to say, we are looking at other blends that are comparable to the original. I hope we can find one - or that they can get this one back to its original profile. I had recommended this blend to many others, but as it stands, I would resind those recommendations based on the new variant we have.

disappointing

Bought this after reading all the positive reviews. This was a very disappointing purchase. Definitely has a very bitter bite. I can't add enough cream or sugar to make this taste good. Maybe other Hawaiian blends taste good, but this one did not to me.

That signature Kona taste

I tried this coffee a few years ago and it remains a favorite. The kona coffee taste is unmistakable and this blend has it! This coffee is smooth without too much acidity. It has some sweet and somewhat floral notes. I like the flavor so much I enjoy it black with just a hint of sugar or stevia. This is in my top 3!

Tried it, not all that good

OK I gave it a try, I have several pounds of pure Kona as a benchmark. This blend falls far short of being anywhere near Hawaiian blend coffee, at least for me anyway. If you decide to try some try a small sample pack. Sorry Tully's this one was a strike out in my ballpark.
