Bad quality, software issues, just excuses…

took this out of the box, plugged it in, hooked up firestick, worked for 1 day. tv will not start up again. disconnected everything, tried hard reset, 4 hours of troubleshooting and nothing. just like all the other reviews here, big issues with software not allowing the tv to start, no hard controls to do a hard reset, just this useless smart remote. all of these folks can't be wrong, it's just non existent quality control, cheap components for a fast buck, bad support. hugely disappointed………this was a birthday gift from my son.

Decent Screen, TERRIBLE PROCESSOR!!!

I have a larger Samsung TV and was very impressed by the robust performance of the native apps and apps that you can get from the App Store (although I'll caveat that by mentioning that I did have to return that TV to the store three times because of how slow the processes worked (laggy, would take a whole minute for any remote control command to work. This TV has a similar issue running applications such as Netflix, Hulu, Apple TV, and others. I bought this TV to serve primarily as my new home-office display ( and to watch TV from to kill the time in between tasks, if I'm being honest). The TV will work fine if you're hooking it to a laptop or desktop. If you're buying this TV to...well...watch TV and so you don't have to use an off the shelf box (like Roku, Apple TV set top, Chromecast, etc), then you'll be TERRIBLY DISAPPOINTED. You would think that if Samsung wants to market a TV as Smart, they would pay more attention to quality control and performance of their Smart Features. Everything running directly from the TV just disappoints. The user interface for every app is rendered in low resolution (yes, I checked my settings. I also compared the same apps on the same TV with third party app services). I can overlook that the app interfaces all run in low resolution, as long as the actual video is rendered in HD. What I can't overlook, is how laggy the TV gets when you run any app. This TV struggles to play video while handling simple functions such as..say.. changing the volume or a channel. So...here I am...using a “Smart TV” as simply a monitor.

The_One_True_Bob, Thank you for your purchase and review. The interface issue you are describing may be related to your network connection and quality. We suggest you try the following: 1. Use 5G WiFi if possible 2. Try wired LAN if available 3. Try repositioning the router so there are no obstacles between your TV and the router I hope this helps to solve your concerns. Hi CallMeCarl, We are sorry to hear that your Samsung TU7000 TV is no longer working after two years. Samsung prides itself on high-quality products and a great customer experience. Please know we are here to help you. If your TV has a black screen even when it's on, it's quite possible it could actually be your external device and not your TV. Please try these troubleshooting steps for your blank screen issue: 1. Press the Home button on the remote. If the menu appears, the TV is powered on but is either not on the correct source or not receiving a signal. If the menu does not appear, the TV may be having power issues. Check the red standby light, a little red light at the edge of the TV that you aim the remote at. In normal use, the red standby light is on when the TV is off (indicating the TV is on standby), and the red standby light is off when the TV is in use (or doesn't have power). 2. Confirm the TV is set to the same source as the external device. For instance, if your cable box is connected to HDMI 1, set the TV source to HDMI 1. If the TV is set to the correct source but there is still no image, unplug and reconnect the AV connections one cable at a time from both ends of each cable. If there's any damage to the cable, it will need to be replaced. After you've reconnected the external device, turn it off and then back on. 3. Test the HDMI cable. Some TVs have an HDMI cable test. Some models only have this test after a software update, and older models do not have it. If your model does not have this test or is not connected by HDMI, skip to the next step. The test is designed for HDMI cords less than 6 feet long and may not give accurate results on longer cords. To perform the test, make sure the TV's source is still on the HDMI setting for the cable you want to test, and then navigate to Settings > Support > Self Diagnosis > Signal Information > HDMI Cable Test > Start Test. If the test says, the cable is bad, replace the cable. Service is not required. 4. Test different external devices. The final thing to rule out is the external device you're using. Try connecting a different device or using a different source port. If you were unable to test the cable in the previous step, then try swapping the cable, too. If the TV can display a picture in any other setup, then you've ruled the TV out as the cause of the issue. Keep trying various setups until you identify the device or cable that is not working and troubleshoot or replace it. If you continue to have issues, please give us a call so we can troubleshoot further with you. Contact us at 1-800-SAMSUNG, 8 AM - 12 AM EST, seven days a week. Stunning picture quality!

What are these reviews talking about??? This tv picture is absolutely gorgeous! I only buy Samsung tv's they are top notch. This one I bought for my covered lanai and the picture is stunning. Only complaint would be tat volume gets lost outside, but it's not an outside branded tv... My sonos took care of that! Highly recommended! And all of my apps work fine on this tv. lol

Great 4K TV

I have been using for a week now with no issues. After reading other reviews I decided not to use the Smart functions of this TV. Instead I am using an NVIDIA Shield TV. Everything works great so far. Picture is bright, colors are vivid and HDR seems to be working great. One piece of advice I would give is make sure, if you are using an external smart device. Make sure your HDMI cable is at least HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2.

Read the negative reviews and believe them!

Just purchased brand new AT the store last night. Brought it in, hooked it up and thought those (negative) people are crazy... well 2 hours into watching it- turned off on its own. Called Samsung, no one was available and had to text the issues. Did all the usual unplugging etc... and nothing. They are going to send a tech. When? I don't know! Left the tv on and just a few seconds ago, sound is coming from it intermittently but no picture. Then did alll the troubleshooting again and nothing. It will not allow me to access anything on the screen, meaning no settings menu even pops up. It's blue then black and some sound cannot even turn volume down! Do not buy this tv. It was instant savings at sams club but not worth it. Don't do it!

Great value for a TV of this size. Bad software...

I bought this TV about a couple of weeks ago. I was replacing a very old 46 in. Sony HD tv. I have to say that for the price, this tv offers a very high quality picture. The color accuracy is very good. It is a very good TV overall. The good: - Great picture quality - Excellent connectivity features (Airplay2, use my pc wirelessly with the tv,) - The speakers wont blow you away but they sound very clear. - When I got it to work, the Smart things app is nice since you are able to control the TV with your phone or with Alexa. The bad: - The software of the TV has issues, Issue 1: the time is set to auto but for some reason it changes (weird) by itself to another time which is incorrect, you can easily fix this by setting the time manually, Issue 2: Once you log in to your samsung account and are able to download apps, once you turn off the tv for the day and turn on the tv the next day I was not able to download any new apps. There are a couple of ways to fix this temporarily: 1) Do a soft reset (with your remote (press and hold the power button on the remote until Samsung Tizen is displayed on the tv)) or 2) Unlplug and plug in the tv from the power outlet. (I have the latest software for the tv ver. 1114) all work but I just highly recommend the first option (it is the easiest). I dont mind these issues since they can hopefully be fixed by a sofware update by samsung, plus it is very cumbersome to move a 70 in tv from a second floor apartment. Also the apps once downloaded work great everytime and provide high quality streaming. Smartthings is weird since in the begining I tried to setup the tv via smartthings but was not able. I setup the tv via the remote control updated the tv to the latest firmware and then tried again, I failed. The only way I got it to work is to start the setup from the phone then wait, then start the setup again on my ipad and then wait again ( it asks you for the pin and then you enter it) It is at this point that it also leaves you waiting on the smartthings app on the ipad. Quit the app on the iphone and start the setup again, leave it alone once you enter the pin and hopefully will work. ( i simply noticed that it started working while I was watching a movie and tried the setup again) It could have been a server side issue but now everything is working ( amazon Alexa, remote control on the ipad and on the iphone, etc...) The TV is great, the software just needs better quality testing. Oh and if you are like me and live in an US territory, you will notice that you don't have all the apps that the TV should have on the app store. This can be fixed by resetting the tv, once you are taken to the page to accept the terms and conditions just press (fast forward 2 8 9 rewind) and you can select United States. This will open up the app store for the applications that are missing.

Dead on Arrival

Remote often doesn't work, volume down button never works, menu button on TV often doesn't work or recognize correct pressing and is a complete pain, picture isn't as good as I was expecting, trying to turn off the TV it turns right back on again, have to unplug to get it to turn off. Not reliable. Decent price for size I guess.

Samsung TV Always My First Choice

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I brought this tv to replace my previous Samsung TV which was at least 10 years old. It was still working fine just wanted a bigger one. Samsung offers their own TV service similar to cable which I love and free of charge. Can even get it on Samsung phones now. My TV is crystal clear and has a nice set of built in speakers with nice sound and base. Only thing is it only has 2 HDMI ports and I was used to have 3 or 4 but the two will suffice. The smart features allows me access to all my streaming services so that's a plus. Overall I've never been disappointed with Samsung products.

Mounting bolts need to be longer than indicated

the set is nice. but the manual will indicat that the versa mount screws should be 20/22mm. this is not correct, and others have commented the same. when you add in the depth of the mounting plate you are using, the screws/bolts will need to be m8 25mm; otherwise, there will be no bite of the threads-guaranteed. i had called samsung tech support about this, and the agent truly had no clue. secondly, if you want to just set up your tv to start watching your cable and streaming services-not so fast....the initial set up is going to force you through a bewildering labyrinth of required steps, to compel you to set up a samsung account-which you may not want.,

Hi TraldAlex, Thank you for your purchase and review of the AU8000 TV. We appreciate your feedback and apologize for any confusion. Please know that the 20-22mm listed in the user manual is not the screw length. It’s the wall mount thread depth in the TV chassis. Make sure to add the wall mount bracket thickness to the thread depth for minimum screw length. If you are unable to find the correct screws, you could use washers (supplied with the wall mount) to adjust the length. Should you ever have questions or need help, Samsung is here for you!
