I bought two sets of these for outdoor lighting on my patio. The set stuck to my painted metal railing work great--no complaints. The set stuck to painted wood? Absolutely nightmarish. This is the third day I've had to replace strips as they keep falling off--and they're holding the lightest set of lights! I'm almost to the point of tearing them all down and going with finishing nails--which completely invalidates the entire point of buying these. Please keep that in mind if you use this product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the clips as a sample in the mail. Though I haven't had to hang my holiday lights yet, I tried the hooks to hang light cords and I love them. I like the transparent color that can be used in any room.

We purchased these clips to use on our shed last year for the Christmas lights so we didn't have to use a ladder for the gutters. Wasn't sure if they would stick and stay on while being exposed to our brutal, cold winters here in Iowa. Not only did they stay on for the holiday and the rest of the winter, but we had a Derecho - an inland hurricane of 140 MPH winds - trees, power lines, traffic signals, and more came down and were destroyed - but our clips are right where they were originally placed and can still hold lights! If that isn't holding power, I don't know what is!

I have used the command hooks in the past (smaller for stockings on the mantle). This year I purchased the larger clips as viewed in commercials. The strips would not come off on five of the clips and the one that did removed the paint. I will have to have the mantel corrected and am very disappointed in the product!

I followed all of the instructions which are VERY time consuming and hung my lights. A few hooks came unstuck immediately, particularly at corners as others reviewers have noted, so I added extra hooks. All seemed well until a few hours later when it started to rain, and the lights started falling down. Mind you, the lights are well under my porch overhang so weren't actually getting rained on. The mere introduction of moisture into the atmosphere was enough to do in the hooks. Outdoor use my foot! I've used Command products extensively inside my home, but I have to wonder, was this product tested at all?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] ouI decorate my home every season,(Fall, Winter, Summer, Spring).I use these for indoor and outdoor decor. I have the same clips up for at least 3 years now without removing them and they have not let me down yet.

I've been trying to use these to hang string lights on my porch and they objectively do not work. Despite following the instructions to the letter, I haven't had a single one successfully stick. I've tried different surfaces (i.e. the vinyl siding, the wood rafters/ceiling). I've gone through half of the sticky strips that came in the package and don't have any hooks to show for it. Even though I leave them up for the recommended amount of time before trying to hang lights (and I've tried leaving them up for lots longer than the recommended time, too, just in case), they come off with the slightest pressure, like the pressure required to put the cord in the clip. I'm very frustrated at the waste of money here.

I have used other command hooks to try and accomplish hanging up lights but they never held the whole season and didn't hold the lights up well. These clips hold the light strings perfectly and I don't think the clips are going to come down until I take them down. I'm so excited to take my holiday lighting to a whole new level. I look forward to all the new products that 3M comes up with.

To be fair, I love the indoor Command hangers. I moved to a new house and was looking for a way to hang Christmas lights. One window especially as it is covered all round by Aluminum flashing. Tried the outdoor light clips, followed the package directions. Some clips didn’t even stick right away, others stuck fine, waited the hour, most stuck while hanging the lights, a few came off. Next day we had a rain storm with wind, a few came off but on the window, all just pulled off. Very disappointing.
